Let me preface this post by saying I do not like today's card at all. Looks very chalky and uninspiring. But, I've been on a roll for the last week and don't want to upset the applecart, so I'm posting anyway.
By the way, call out to the big Hoss - he blew the field away in a DEL HT event yesterday. More than twice the winnings of the 2nd place finisher!
R1 - #4 DARKNSTORMY (10-1) Rudy has been absolutely brutal this meet (2 for 78). However, this January-bred could give him a much needed win. She's got a race under her belt, which the other contenders in here don't have, and she gets a stellar sprint jock in T-Gaff today as well.
R2 - #2 HIT THE WOAH (5-2) She's really come into her own since she turned 4 years old. I definitely see a move forward off her last, and that should be enough.
R3 - #6 FUNDING GAP (8-1) Fresh off the claim, she gets blinkers. The main contenders are the 1,2, and 3 and each of them look like nibblers. I hate nibblers.
R4 - #5 BUSTIN BAY (3-1) Looks to be in peak form and is 3 for 4 lifetime at 7 furlongs. Fits with these - would be nice to get 3-1.
R5 - #8 SANTA GIULIA (6-1) What a tough race to handicap! I'm using the second time Lasix angle here - could do worse than Prat/Brown.
R6 - #9 PRETTY MISS KEENS (10-1) Prolific dam has had 5 of 10 offspring win as 2 year-olds. Taking a stab in the dark.
R7 - #3 FIELDSTONE (3-1) Nice run at this level a month ago - now gets a major jockey upgrade. Obvious choice.
R8 - #2 THE CRITICAL WAY (4-1) Speaking of jockey upgrades... I'm going to ignore the last start and hope for a bounce back run from this old geezer. Can't believe this is his first try at The Spa.
R9 - #3 LADY SCARLET (12-1) Can't believe this morning line. This filly is too good to be 12-1.
R10 - #9 DREAMPOINT (4-1) It's hard to lay your money down on an 0 for 18 gelding, but I see reason for optimism here. First, Prat sees fit to climb aboard instead of hitting happy hour early, and second, he's 2 for 2 in the money at a mile on grass. Every dog has his day.
