RACE 1:
The Mathis Mile starts the day, with The top 3 on the ML looking legit. #3 I'm A Gambler 5/2 is heavily raced, but has been freshened a bit. His Euro numbers are some of the fastest in the field, gets Prat to ride. #1 Balnikhov 2/1 loves the distance, and will be motoring late. #7 Sumter 3/1 is another with a very solid last race.
#4 Time To Party is 8/1 with a very nice last race, likes this track and distance, and is also the FULCRUM.
I will key the #4 in small exactas with the 3 mentioned and a small WIN ticket on #4 Time To Party to start my day.
Will punch the following P3 tickets:
1,3,4,7/3,5/1,2,4
4,7/2/1,4
RACE 2:
#6 Palagio 3/1 ran a really nice race over this track last May, has run well enough last 3 at DMR. If he repeats that SA race he is very tough in here. #5 Migration 6/1 ran a fast one on turf 3 back and is another that has solid dirt figs in his last. #2 Purified 2/1 has run 3 fast sprints, while #3 Bletchley Park 7/2 ran a fast number over this track last January.
Not the greatest betting race, I'll take a shot with #6 Palagio if he's around that 3/1 and box with the 3,5......hoping that the fav is out of the exacta.
RACE 3:
Another turf stakes going 1 1/8 miles and the one that catches the eye is #1 Rip City 10/1. Draws the rail, with turf numbers every bit as good as the others and gets weight. Likes this course 7 for 8 in the exacta, has won at the distance.
#4 Go On 10/1 also gets weight, matched his 3yo top 2 back and has run fast enough to be a major player in here.
Others include #2 Masteroffoxhounds 2/1 who is the FULCRUM, has very competitive numbers also. Toss the last he's 2-2 over this SA turf. I'll add #6 Prince Abama 5/2 to the exactas.
Both of the 10/1 horses have a big shot. I give the edge to #1 Rip City as he's run those fast numbers more often over this surface. He'll get my win ticket, will box 1/4 exactas and also key both the 1 and 4 in exactas with the 2,6.
WIN #1 Rip City
P3: 1,4/all/4,5,10,12
2/all/10,12
RACE 4:
Maiden Race with a bunch of FTS. Time for a Corned Beef on Rye with mustard and pickle............ and a cold beer.
RACE 5:
2 YO Maidens on the turf. #5 Dandy Man Shines 5/2 has had bad starts in his 3 races, that last race is fast enough to take this. #10 Smart Code 8/1 gets blinkers for his 3rd start and 2nd turf route. His last race was competitive with trouble and a move forward puts him squarely in this. #12 Zio Jo 20/1 is drawn wide and needs to work out a trip. Has paired 2 very solid races and at the price is a must use. I'll also use the #4 Maltese Falcon 4/1 and the FTS #7 Escape Artist.
#10 Smart Code gets my Win ticket with a smaller one on the #12. Exactas keying 10,12 with the 4,5,7
P3: 4,5,10,12/1,2,6/1,2,5,8
P4: 4,5,10,12/1,2,6/1,2,5,8/4,6
RACE 6:
#6 Country Grammer 7/5 is the clear fav in here and wins on his best. Hasn't won since he's returned from Dubai. I have to include #2 Stiletto Boy 5/1 who quickly broke thru his 3yo top earlier this year, is competitive on his best, and has been freshened for this. #1 Hopkins 6/1 is stretching out from the rail, Hernandez sticks with him, and he will get this colt to the lead. Yes his sprints are slower, but he does have a forward moving pattern and another forward move saving ground on the lead puts him close. A wire job is possible so will include him too.
P3: 1,2,6/1,2,8/4,6
RACE 7:
#8 Big Beauty 7/2 has run 2 solid numbers in his last 2, has run 4 turf sprints and never been out of the exacta in them. #5 Lady Maryann 12/1 has run two solid turf sprints and can certainly move forward. #1 Flame McGoon 5/1 is another with competitive turf sprint numbers and gets back to one turn. #2 Smiling Molly 8/1 moves forward every time, has some speed and can shake loose on the front end. #3 D's Lovely Sophia has popped some fast turf sprints so will include her in the minors.
I'll key the #8 with the others in exactas.
WIN #8 Big Beauty
P3:1,2,8/4,6/3,5,10,12
P5: 1,2,8/4,6/3,5,10,12/1,4,6/1,5,6,7,8
RACE 8:
#6 Fun To Dream 5/1 is the fastest filly and is a clear key and win bet at anything close to her ML. Will also use #1 Under The Stars 7/2, #3 Ganadora 4/1, and #4 Midnight Memories 5/2.
WIN #6 Fun To Dream
P3: 4,6/3,5,10,12/1,4,6
P4: 4,6/3,5,10,12/1,4,6/1,5,6,7,8
RACE 9:
Will use the #3 Ballet Dancing 4/1, #5 Urban Fairytale 8/1, #10 Leisurewear 8/1, and #12 Karakatsie 5/1. The 3 or 12 are possible win bets depending on the board
P3: 3,5,10,12/1,4,6/1,5,6,7,8
RACE 10:
The Malibu is always a great feature on Opening Day. #6 Taiba 7/5 is the winner on his best. If I were to pick an upsetter, #4 Nakatomi 10/1 got back to his 2yo top and can move forward again. #1 Forbidden Kingdom will roll from the rail and could take some catching.
RACE 11:
We end the day with another great race the Gr1 American Oaks. #1 Rhea Moon 8/1 has marched forward in every race, and her last is one of the best in the field. At her ML an absolute key. Will also use #5 Bellstreet Bridie 4/1, #6 Miss En Scene, #7 Skims 6/1, and #8 Pizza Bianca 6/1
Win #1 Rhea Moon
