Great... (without looking at the link, let me venture a guess)

The Sabes got a bunch of draft picks in return, which, if they pan out, will just trade again...(and keep the the ones that suck)
Rinse and repeat for the last 20 years...

lol, the Sabres gave the kid over $10 mill/yr as an unproven yougn gun, set the standard for sillyness -- Leafs followed suit with retard contracts to Mathews and Marner, esp Marner. Marmer makes 10 mill a year as an undersized winger, .......and gutless come playoff hockey. Fuckin Dubas, lol. Not a chance Lamoreillo would have done that.

How would ya like to be an Avalance fan-- anchoring the back : Makar (22, a Norris Trophy looms ) and Byram (20!)

last game Byram was double shifted the last 5 min, he's a rookie

not a Flames fan?

Oilers look real good. two big acquisitions- Keith , Hyman. Duncan can still play, adds veteran calmness at the back. Why did they get Ceci? lol Hyman is a steal- was the Leafs MVP a yr ago. Would make any line better, ..Dubas didnt have $5.8 mill to hand him? haha. Yeah, when you give Marner, Mathews, Tavares $10 mill + each you'll eventually have cap issues. Ritchie looking out of place on this team, and Bunting , albeit has looked okay, gritty kid-he AINT no Hyman. Hyman should score 30 easily with McDavid next to him

Connor McDavid is a such a freak. With all the personal crazy numbers/trophies so early in a career... needs to add Lord Stanley to the resume...that dee is not convincing, we shall see. Maybe further growth in Nurse.

I am Calgary fan, just don't think Eichel is right for Calgary with Sutter as coach - whether Eichel gets healthy out not. Sutter wants obedience, Eichel is not that. Plus I like Calgary core the way it is and trading for Eichel is too high risk. Ritchie just bad luck getting knocked out, he'll fight again.

Edmonton is good, but anyone would be with McJesus, Hyman is excellent addition - the rest is just average. Toronto downgraded, as did Tampa. Florida upgraded the most.

aw gotcha, gl to your Flames .

With the recent additions, the rest of the Edm lineup just needs to be average to be a threat to win Lord Stanley. They need the 3rd and 4th lines to not hurt them, and equally important is the 6 dee. Bouchard is only 22 and is playing with Nurse . We shall see. They need Nurse to blossom become the all-star they r expecting, Bouchard to grow up fast. Duncan to bail out Ceci. And of course steady goaltending, come playoff time.

McDavid is not like Gretz or Mario in that he doesnt exactly make his linemates 'better'-- hasnt shown that intangible in the early part of his career--its like they r always looking for 'the proper linemates' . Unlike a Crosby who pretty much can play with anyone . From the early going Hyman is a great fit. McDavid is an outlier , for sure, best talent to arrive since Mario imo.......... BUT ya got to win Lord Stanley

Thank you and good luck to Edmonton too, if it can't be Calgary I'll still hope for Edmonton haha?

Totally agree that the Cup is the all important and that McJesus not like Gretzky/Lemieux/Crosby who can play with anyone - and yeah Hyman is great fit I think Hyman is one of those good players can play with anyone.

Edmonton defense and bottom forwards are definitely the problem, Duncan Keith not enough to help and Nurse can't do it alone either - losing Larson was biggest problem and we'll see if Keith is enough to fill void...

LOL!!!!!!! yeah, am a Leafs fan , what could have been if the GTA kid wore the Leafs jersey. I remember him when he played in the GTHL for The Toronto Marlboros-- he always played a yr up. He was not as dominant than he is today!! TRUTH! he had a huge growth spurt. He played in the same league with Nurse, ha! Nurse played for the Don Mill Flyers, with Domi's kid. Nurse was too soft on the Rangers 5th goal--cant have that from your number 1 dee. They play him so much that i wonder if its to his detriment. He's not a stay at home dee, often heads up so lots of energy expended--his 'laziness' often is when he's been the ice too long

that goal was just unreal, lol. He didnt like what he saw offensively and purposely took it outside the blueline--i guess he liked the on ice match up,a tired Rangers line said 'im going' LOL!!!!!!

have u ever seen a player with more highlight reel goals this early in a career?

Yeah, he'd be the Savior of any team that got him, and he was definately hoping to go to Toronto hahaha. That awesome you got to see both him and Nurse playing young, and yeah a soft defence is what costs goals - that why I like Sutter style systems, hard everywhere but especially on defence.

Thing about this goal is that, like your said, he saw that New York was tired and but didn't like his set up yet. So in order to rearrange things and also not let them change lines, he just takes it outside the zone to see how things get re set up again, then sees a path to the net while some of the defence skates pointing wrong way - and takes off to the net, I think hoping no one takes him down, because that's the only way to stop him. Luckily all the Rangers including the goalie were stunned by his speed into literally not knowing what to do, when they should have hit his body somehow. Anyways, takes hockey IQ plus his speed/skill to pull that off, just amazing.

Just from day seen him drafted to now he's matured immensely, not only physically heavier/stronger, but can literally see leadership and hockey IQ continue to develop - I think it's this more than anything that is carrying Edmonton success this year, combined with the addition of Hyman makes for this years running streak, they've literally just scored themselves out of any mistakes they make in games.

And no, haha I've never seen anyone with more highlight reel goals, just continues to show that as his leadership abilities grow as will Edmonton's ability to outscore themselves out of any situation - because just like this highlight reel goal, when McJesus is controlling/leading the offence he manufactures goals.

excellent points, Tuesday. Completely agree with maturity and physical growth. Would be nice for Marner to echo that, specifically the physical aspect. The fucker is tossed like a rag doll come playoff hockey....$10 mill paycheck for that kid, lol

Olympics coming up. Do they put the 'C' on Connor or Sid? Gotta be Sid. Connor's speed on a larger-sized rink? ..pair him with Barzal,!! When's the last time Canada lost a pro-tournament when NHL players were allowed to participate? cant remember!! Spans over a decade at least!...on a great run! ........what a show The 2022 Ice Hockey competition will be. Cant miss tv!

Haha yeah hopefully Toronto doesn't waste these years since they've made downgrades this year, too many max paid players just ends up like Chicago after winning Cups and Tampa this year, no way can repeat again - there gotta be better way than salary caps...

Can't wait for Olympics either, they gotta let Crosby have it and even if they have to McDavid I'd seriously look down on him if he didn't give it to Crosby himself. Man, Barzal McKinnon McDavid all the fastest players on Olympic sized ice...hard to remember when last time Canada didn't win either in Olympics, but thinking it was when Sweden won thinking Sundin Forsberg Sedins Alfredsson team and Canada has all the old guys like Fleury Cujo maybe Gretzky last year so 98 or 2002...maybe Gretzky didn't play but coached? Will have to look it up, but man the skill now easy different with cracks downs on penalties making whole game faster...only few more months?

Bye. Will not miss you

ha you may not miss him but he DEFINITELY won't miss playing for that bassackwards unorganized fuck of a franchise. If he stays healthy he has the talent to be a top 10 all-time American hockey player.

incredible trade for Vegas to get a world-class NHL player and not give up a single roster player. Max and Pachy are great players, Stone's a gem, but Eichel is a different level.

Krebs will be a good player for Buffalo in a few years just in time to trade him for some prospects. How bad of an organization do you have to be to give Jeff Skinner $72 million?

not necessarily. Pens won cups and made the playoffs 15 straight shelling out monster cash for Sid, Geno, Flower, and Tanger. What you do need though is to get A) very lucky with some veteran trade deadline pickups (guerin, kessel, etc) and B) some killer role players and you churn out year after year (cole, cullen, bonino, hainsey, hagelin). Makes it very tough on the GM but you can't teach talent like those 3 guys have in Toronto. I don't think much of the Toronto GM so i wouldn't expect them to fill out the roster like the Pens have done for more than a decade

Sid and Connor on the same team.......remember these two? on the same line, LOL!!! 5-5 late , winner take all in decisive Game 3

In the history of cdn hockey i'd want these two in this situation, lol -- Wayne to be the passer and have Mario be the shooter every time............... Never gets old

Never gets old???...funny that the two of them have so many ironic similarities to 99/66, McDavid being on Edmonton like Gretzky wearing 97 instead of 99 and Crosby on Pittsburgh like Lemieux but Crosby being the Gretzky of his generation and McDaid being the Lemieux - instead of 99 to 66 goal it'll be 87 to 97 goal haha????

Tuesday- ha! yeah, fans in either city are quite fortunate. Altho Edm did lose Wayne. Would there even be a NHL team in the city of Pittsburgh if not for Mario? They were talking relocation, the franchise was in trouble. Mario saved it, actually he did it twice.

Let's not forget Jagr , yeah Penguin fans have had a great run. .........Malkin is 35, Sid is 34--penguins soon to know the Life of the Detroit Red Wings? we shall see

RT, what you'll also need is that the highly paid core better pan through when it matters most-- the playoffs. Marner, Mathews? NHL's playoff version of "The Vanishing". A year ago was an embarrassment for these 2, up 3 games to 1 playing an inferior opponent and ready to close . After Game 6 momentum had clearly changed, was going to be interesting to see how the Leafs young guns handle Game 7 on HOME soil Vs an inferior team. Didnt end well- both looked scared, lol..

think the Blackhawks also a team that pulled it off, then started to lose pieces that couldn't be replaced. With the nonsense started by the Sabres and Dubas following suit the NHL better increase that cap-or else middle-tier players may be in for a surprise. Handing out $10 mill/yr cheques to 22 yr old 'superstars' who havent done shit? Point signed for $9 mill, did TB have a choice? Lots of leverage for established stars , MacKinnon is making $5 mill a yr, lol........... The acquisition of Kessel was the most instrumental pickup in the Pens last 2 Cup wins .
