Sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant it was reduced by 1 point or 1.5 points depending on where you looked. Not saying that it had dropped all the way to 1 or 1.5. Just indicating that the money is not on the majority side.

The only defensive starter for SC who is injured is DT Pepper. He's listed as questionable. And I think it's probably big for him to play. If he can't then they definitely need SC's other DT Ajiboye, who was listed as starting DT at the start of the season, but was suspended for the first 3 games of the season. His status is still unclear for this game whether he will play. I would think if Pepper can't go then Spurrier will have to bring in Ajiboye. If they both play then it makes SC's defense extra tough for Ole Miss and their semi-rebuilt O-LIne to run on. One thing that hasn't been mentioned here is SC's defense is faster than greased lightning. And they can be very tough to beat at home. Plus we have a team getting points at home, who has played 2 BCS teams on the road as opposed to Ole Miss two non-BCS, FCS opponents. Big difference in the level of competetion that each of these teams have played against so far.

Ajiboye is off suspension and in the starting lineup. Pepper is still questionable.

For the poster quoting the 41 points put up by the Bulldogs in reference to a bad South Carolina defense, The 41 points given up to UGA is not as bas for the defense as it looks either.

7 points on 100yd kickoff return
7 points on drive starting at South Carolina 48 due to a kick off return (52yds)
7 points on a 61 yd reverse
3 points directly from a Garcia interception
7 points before half with a drive starting on South Carolina 40 because of a kickoff return.

That is all 31 of UGA first half points. South Carolina played that game without their 2 top DTs because Ajiboye was suspended and Pepper was hurt on the 2nd defensive play.

SOuth Carolina kickoff coverage has been horrible this year though

But why play South Carolina, no one thinks they are good? Ole Miss KILLED TTech in the bowl game last year and they have alot of weapons on offense...

Why play South Carolina?

1. Rushing dog
2. Home dog
3. Prime time TV
4. 71% of bets are on Ole Miss
5. S.O.S. is waaaaaaay stronger

Aloha from Hawaii.

Im thinking about SC as well. I believe thursday night home dogs last year were covering outright at an insane clip last year.

Mazin,
Not only last year but try the L3 years of weekday games. If you took home dogs on weekdays the L3 years, you would be winning at a 63% ATS rate.

I will say this should be a hard fought game. But Ole Miss has a lot of weapons. I understand they played cupcake teams their first two games and should not be a top 5 team, but Ole Miss wins and covers here. They may not be the real deal but they are good.

Both sides have their cases but I just figured to lend my knowledge in handicapping to help the next guy w/maybe making up his mind. I, myself, will be on the Gamecocks plus the 3 pts. Aloha from Hawaii.

Jerrell Powe is a star IMO, at 340 lbs he is right in the middle of the Ole Miss DL, he was highly recruited out of high school but missed some time due to academic problems

he has not impressed most. Unless he has improved his work ethic, i doubt this guy can be an impact player. He used his size and strength in high school to intimidate and dominate weaker opponents. He does not have that edge in the SEC. He could get better if he takes it serious.

Powe has lost 35 pounds and is playing very well. I do believe our corners will impress you thursday night. Thats coming from a homer but our corners have got much better and more aggresive. Again Im a homer but I really like what nix has done for our defenense. And NO I dont think were a top 5 team but I do believe we are a top 15 or 20 team.

Gotta go with Ole Miss. I figured they'd have to give 7-8 points to be honest. I think Ole Miss falls sometime this year but not to SC. I look for Ole Miss to beat Bama (Nutt is known for winning these types of games...look at FL last year, LSU the previous 2 years) and lose to Auburn who now has Malzon that's looking for some type of revenge after the way things went down at Arkansas.

Here's my 2 cents on the game. I go to usc, have seen all their games for about 5 years, and will be at the game Thursday night. First off i am nervous about our db's. we gave up over 200 yds passing to FAU last week and Snead is arguably the 2nd best qb in the conference, granted we did lose like 3-4 starting dbs from last years team. Hopefully they'll be working on their techniques this week. Special teams have been pretty shitty this year too. If we could just cover kicks we'll be ok though. Our offensive has been clicking though. Garcia had over 300 yds passing against Georgia and 280+ yards rushing against FAU. This year i can really count on our rushing attack, mainly because Mike Davis is no longer here. Our biggest advantage will be the home crowd. Williams-Brice Stadium, especially on a Thursday night game, is insane. This game reminds me of our game 2 years ago against Kentucky at home on a Thursday night and Kentucky was top 10 or 5 at the time. I haven't seen much of Ole Miss this year but i think we have a very good chance to win this game.

I am not sure they beat Bama but if OM does not execute on offense better than the 1st two games, SC will beat the chit out of them Thursday night. This is a coin toss as OM has to play well to win and SC talented enough to win ugly if need be.

Too many "What Ifs" for me to be confident with either side.

GL to all

Peace

The SEC is full what-if's and the question is always who is going to show up. It seems every team has 2 sides in the SEC...the good and the ugly.

I'll bet that the "ugly" doesn't show itself this week in SC for Ole Miss. With only 4 days to prepare for this meeting, it will be hard to get "off track" for Ole Miss. With Vandy next week and Bama the following...I'll say they'll have more trouble next week with Vandy than with SC this week.

The reason being...focus. I think they'll be more focused on the Bama game next week than the Vandy game. It wouldn't surprise me for Vandy to pull a Washington vs. USC out of their hats next weekend simply because of focus.

Nutt is known for winning games he's supposed to lose, and losing games he's supposed to win. If you go back and look, normally these games that he loses is right in front of, or following, a game he was supposed to lose and normally he done well in these games...as long as no bowls were involved.

My prediction for Ole Miss

Wins vs. SC
Loses vs. Vandy (this is really going out on a limb...but I'll say he doesn't cover whatever the spread is anyway)
Wins vs. Bama

You Cock huggers are funny, this ain't even gonna be close. When Ole Miss jumps out 14-3 the running game goes down the shoot. GG ball control, GG Garcia. Ole Miss is a top 10 caliber team, who gives a shit who they've played this year. That is hardly relevant in the first 3-4 weeks of NCAAF in most cases, and this is one of them. Ole Miss Rolls OUT.

Ole Miss did lose to SC last year at Ole Miss.. but this came right after the huge win over FLA.. SC won the TO margin 3-1.. which was crucial as this lead to 14 pts for SC and no pts for Ole Miss.. I dont see Ole Miss giving up the ball that many times, but anything can happen.. especially on a Thursday night on the road in a hectic environment..

Ole Miss limits their TO's, and they win easily by 10+.. they shit the bed again, SC will not only cover, but win this SU..

I said it earlier in this thread and I will say it again. UGA, despite terrible turnovers, wasnt losing to Arkansas.....Ole miss IS NOT losing this game.

Even in my worst weeks, I dont miss too much in the SEC.

I hardly think one would have to abandon the running game down 14-3 unless its halfway through the 4th quarter....just sayin...
