Rail ought to tell you, the Rose Bowl is not home cooking for USC. The game is supposed to have about even ticket distribution, but usually the Big 10 team gets more fans in the seats. SC fans are hideous, many will "boycott" not being in the Sugar Bowl and refuse to go to this game. Not to mention the LA attitude of every ticket is a potential scalp. Michigan not being in the Rose Bowl for quite a few years now will be incentive to come out west, I think they will have many more fans and so all these people that think it is a "home game" for SC will be quite disappointed.

I think the Pac 10 will do ok in the bowl games, but I think people are really misreading this emotion. I really do think with a month to simmer SC will be letting down here quite a bit. Think to yourself, you got ranked #1, you got everyone saying you are the best team now, and yet if you go out and destroy this quality opponent you will do no better than half a title? That is a setup for a big fat letdown. Michigan has nothing to play for but ruining the #1 team's chance at a title, that is a great spot motivationally to be in when compared to what the other side is thinking.

WildBill,

I can tell you are not from L.A. I'm an SC alum, and yes I was planning on going to the Sugar Bowl, and guess what now I'm going to the Rose Bowl. You're thinking of years past when non L.A. teams played in the Rose, and game was 65% Big 11 fans because they love their football. This is USC, not WSU or even ASU. This is the 1st time Pete has made it to this game, and believe me its a big big deal for him. The stadium will be 65%+ SC fans, the team and coach will be totally pumped up for the game. I'm sure Keyshawn has already shown his 95 Rose bowl performance to Mike Williams so you know he's gonna be out to one up him. Blow out city.

It's interesting to note some of the stats for both these teams instead of "this team's gonna smoke that team".
USC - 2nd in country in run defense. (Does this stat mean that much in a pass dominated conference?) Michigan 16th.
M - 7th on pass defense, allowed only 5 passing TD's all year. USC is 110th!
Schedule - USC 1 top 15 team played all year. M - 3 teams.
Both teams have very good talent, speed etc. Although most might claim USC is better coached, Carr is very good as a dog (9-1) and against top 10 is approx. 75%.
Michigan getting 7 is a very attractive offer.
