Like Chris Christie mentioned, "I didn't do it, and I wasn't involved in it" are NOT the words of "leadership." Generally speaking, Republicans...are...scum

Florida Teachers Now Required To Tell Students That Slavery Was Pretty Good

70,539 views Jul 21, 2023 Farron Balanced
The school year is about to start in the state of Florida, and teachers will have something new to tell their students this year. Thanks to a new decision by the state's Republican-controlled Department of Education, teachers will now be REQUIRED to teach students that slavery was actually beneficial to black people because of all the cool skills they learned. Nevermind that we stripped these people of their basic humanity and ripped them from another continent, apparently that part isn't as important. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

The state of Florida has decided that students do in fact, need to be taught about slavery throughout Florida, which, hey, that's great. Right? For a while there kind of looked like they weren't going to even let teachers talk about slavery in history classes throughout Florida. So technically a win, I guess until, of course, you look at this new decree from the Florida Department of Education that says, okay, middle school teachers, you can in fact teach students about slavery. But you also are now legally required to tell students how awesome slavery was for the slaves. I mean, after all, the state says, they did learn some pretty cool skills while being slaves, while being technically property owned by other human beings. But they learned some cool things that, that you probably helped them, you know, later on in, in life if, if they lived long enough to be freed. Um, but those are good skills, right? You know, farming, cooking, housekeeping. Yeah. Hey, that's useful for a slave ripped from their home continent, dragged against the ocean across their will, and then sold for profit. Yeah, you learn some cool things. The state of Florida is now legally required to teach students. Let me read this from the CNN report. The new standards require instruction for middle school students to include how slaves develop skills, which in some instances could be applied for their personal benefit. A document listing the standards and posted in the Florida Department of Education website said, when high school students learn about events such as the 1920 Ocoee massacre, the new rules require that instruction include acts of violence perpetrated against and by African-Americans. Now, if you're not familiar with the 1920 Ocoee massacre, let me go ahead and tell you what happened. You had two black residents in Riverside, Florida. 1922, black residents went to cast their vote as they were legally allowed to do. The white poll worker said, nah, get the hell outta here. You're not allowed to vote. And I'm sure they probably used some charged language there to two men were legally allowed to vote, but it wasn't enough that the white poll workers said, hell no. Get outta here. Because later on the KKK showed up, massacred dozens of residents in this predominantly black town, and burned dozens of homes to the ground. That's what the Ocoee massacre was. White supremacists murdering black people for trying to vote. And now the state of Florida says, if you talk about it at all, you Have to say that black people did it to black people. That, that, that's, that's, that's not even close to reality. But that is what our kids are gonna be taught in our public schools. The public schools that my children attend here in the state of Florida, the public schools, where my wife is an educator, she is now legally required to talk about to, to say this if she teaches it at all. Th this is, this is utter insanity. This is an absolute, quite literal whitewashing of American history. Slaves learned skills for their personal benefit. Slaves didn't have personal benefit. They were in fact property of white people. They didn't get to go out and just have fun and do their own kind of thing all the time, right? They didn't have side hustles where, Hey, yeah, I've learned these skills as a slave, but I'm also running my own farm where I'm making a huge profit. That's not a thing. Florida has been solidly controlled by Republicans for over 20 years. These Republicans that run this state need people to be stupid because if the Republican Party runs out of stupid people, then there's nobody left to vote for the Republican party. That's why they're destroying education here in the state of Florida, so that everybody stays stupid so that everybody stays Republican.

DeSantis Plans Full Reboot Of His Failing Presidential Campaign

28,536 views Jul 24, 2023 ROF Daily Updates
Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign has performed so poorly during the two months that it has existed that the campaign now says, according to reports, that they are going to be doing a bit of a reboot to get things back on track. Part of the new strategy is going to be keeping the governor's events to "small", intimate settings with only a handful of voters at a time. When you have to "reboot" your campaign after just two months, then its a good sign you're not going to make it to the finish line, as Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains.

*This transcript was generated by a third-party transcription software company, so please excuse any typos. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently denied reports that his campaign was effectively at a free fall. And in fact, he's so adamant that his campaign is not in a free fall, that his campaign has actually decided to completely reboot itself and start over from scratch. That's how awesome things are. Things are going so incredibly awesome that we're gonna stop doing everything that we are doing, and we're gonna do everything totally different, you know, because things were going just, just too good, I guess, right, Ron? That's, that's how you wanna phrase that. Uh, but anyway, DeSantis campaign has basically said We're rebooting, we're changing strategy, we're changing our messaging. He's no longer gonna be running as Ron DeSantis the governor of Florida. He is now going to be Ron DeSantis the insurgent candidate for President of the United States. They're gonna try to not talk about Florida as much. They, you know, just kinda want people to ignore what's happening down here. And I'm sure that has nothing to do with the recent decision by our Republican controlled Department of Education. That says that you have to teach that slaves actually learn some pretty cool things that they could use later in life, like later in life. Do they think legitimately that slaves were like allowed to retire and then go start their own businesses? That's, that's not a thing. But anyway, DeSantis don't want people talking about Florida anymore. Maybe it's because of the new educational decree. Maybe it's because all of those so-called accomplishments that he loves to brag about have all been overturned by the court system. And so he doesn't actually even have any accomplishments. Maybe he doesn't want people to talk about Florida because he doesn't want to talk about the fact that off the coast of, uh, south Florida, we've got ocean temperatures that are in the hundreds. We have home insurance companies fleeing the state, no longer providing us coverage. We have the fastest rising home prices of anywhere in the country per capita. We had more covid deaths than anyone else. You know, I could go on and on. Our economy is struggling. We have a 9% inflation rate while the rest of the country has a 3% inflation rate. Should I continue, Ron? Or do people get the picture of why you don't want to talk about Florida anymore because you have created a hell hole down here and it's finally getting the national attention that it deserves. So now your campaign's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's not talk about Florida. I mean, this race isn't about Florida. We got other, other states out there that Ron could eventually get to and destroy. So let's focus on those for now. They're gonna keep Ron DeSantis out of crowds. Instead, they're gonna have more personal type meetings, you know, uh, at churches and maybe at diners where he can shake people's hands. But he doesn't have to get up on the stage and say the word woke 17 times in a two minute span, which he has done in recent weeks. So, you know, they wanna keep him away from Crowds and, and the public in general, because that's smart when you're running a presidential campaign, right? Let's keep him away from the people who need to vote for him because he's so gross that he turns 'em all off.
