Shermer:

You are a big timer so spend the 400 bucks on the XBox 360. Go to your local gamestop, ELBO, or find a website that is taking preorders and lock one up. If you don't, it won't be untill next Feb before you can get one. Those kids will love it. You will already have the whole Xbox lineup to pick games from, plus the new games for the 360. Don't even hint that you are getting it for them and then when they open it up for XMAS they will go nuts. The console will have a life of about 4 years before the next generation comes out.

Go to amazon.com and just to see what it's all about. Look for Computer and Video games section.

Guys it looks like you need to go on and spend the exta 100 bucks to get the "premium" system as opposed to the core. Now is not the time to be cheap boys, becasue it looks like if you only get the core for 299 you will end up spending more than the extra 100 bucks for the "premium" if you want to save your games, and be able to play all of the xbox1 games. Looks like the premium system will have a wireless controller, a 20 gig harddrive, HD/AV cables, Remote, headset for live, and a few other extras.

The 299$ "core" will have the basic console and a wired controller.

Don't fall for buying "bundles" either. That is all amazon is offering right now.

Man these x360's are gonna be hot hot hot hot hot. I wonder if people will be buying these things and selling them for about 1,000 bucks, especially before Xmas, until demand is met. I wouldn't doubt it at all. I'm looking forward because I never got an XBOX and I want to try out some of the older popular titles. I've gotta believe that by XBOX releasing the 360 at least 6 months (and probably a year) before PS3 that they are gonna take a lions share of PS2's and potential PS3's customers.

Should be interesting

I agree Hit.

They will crush all thanksgiving weekend and December long with this machine. It will be in top 3 for coveted items for sure, if not #1.

Thing hurting XBOX 360 for diehards like me and youself is their launch titles, they really are'nt anything stellar IMO.

But I still say the PS3 Will win the next generation of console wars, even if it is'nt coming out until June of '06 or whatever. That machine will just be that good.

I disagree on the PS3 winning the console war but anything is possible. In about 2 years we will know for sure who has won. If history teaches us anything it's this no company stays on top for long. I think Sony has had their run and now it's MSFT's turn to grab the reigns. When PS3 launches, 360 will have at least 25 titles.

Time will tell Robby but I'm betting on the 360.
