I have had these problems with Sportingbet.

In my experience what happens is when attempting to place the bet the "page can not be displayed" message comes up.

Because of this a confirmation number is not obtained. The account funds are reduced by the attempted stake at which point a gambler could assume the bet is on.

However if you check your account history the bet will not appear in the open bets section. The funds are then re-credited to your balance as the attempted bet appears to fail.

In cases where I have received a bet confirmation number I have NEVER had a problem. Once I have this number and the bet is shown in the open plays then the bet is on.

I do not believe that this is part of any deliberate attempt by Sportingbet to defraud customers. I do agree, however, that this is a SERIOUS glitch in their software and their lack of action in sorting it out shows them in a very poor light.

It should not be up to the bettor to have to work out the idiosyncrasities of their software before he knows if he has a bet on or not.

My advice would be to always check your open plays and once it appears in there the bet is on.
