I must admit, I am looking very forward to the NFL starting now with that free half point. At this deal, you can actually afford to have a lot of action to watch on tv on my NFL Sunday Ticket Directv Package. Those half points can really add up. Sundays will NEVER be the same again for me once NFL starts in 1 month... Time to get the chips, beers and pizza ready for Sundays.

But david, I want to ask you one question pls sir.. I cannot bring a 3.5 to a 3, correct? But what if the line is -3.5 -125, can i not bring this to -3-125? I probably can't i know. But if we can't, isn't this the same as bringing a -4 even to -3.5 even? It's because -3.5 -125 is just about equivalent to -4 even. So if we can bring a -4 even to a -3.5 even, wouldn't we be allowed to bring a -3.5 -125, to -3 -125?

I am just curious sir as to what is the rule with the 3 exactly. Thanks

SG: I can answer that with authority.

You cannot do any of these things for college or the NFL with the free half point:

1 - bump a +2.5 to a +3
2 - bump a +3 to a +3.5
3 - down a -3.5 to a -3
4 - down a -3 to a -2.5

It doesn't matter what the money odds are. You may, however, buy a half-point, which will be priced exceedingly high as are all buys at books for going over or under a three.

Well, SG, the answer is that your logic is flawed. -3 -125 is most assuredly not equal to -3.5 -125, as the 3 is the most common margin of victory in a football game. This is why Sky/Rio has the rule, and why all books will let you buy a -3 -110 to a -2.5 -130 rather than -2.5 -120 - that extra 10 points signifies the importance of that number.

Sure wish they'd see it another way, though
