I know that is only July, and this poll is only with registered voters. However, it from a Republican polling firm (Public Opinion Strategies for the Prichard Committee), but the state wide poll has incumbent Democratic Governor Andy Beshear 10 points ahead of the MAGA knuckle dragger called State Attorney General Daniel Cameron (it’s redundent to call MAGA members knuckle draggers, but you need to spell these things out to the folks who don’t follow politics). And Andy Beshear is also popular in the state, so it is a good sign of what may come this November.
For those outside of the Bluegrass State, we have elections for state wide offices in off years (I have no idea why Kentucky clings to this anti-democratic election policy, but it’s been this way all of my life. And I’m 60 years old).

Anyway...
Considering Kentucky is now a Republican state, it appears that even 38% of Republicans approve of Beshear. And 60% of independents feel the same way. And this is even after the COVID-19 crisis and before any real advertisement campaigns have really begun.A new statewide poll conducted by a Republican firm shows Kentucky Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear leading his GOP challenger by 10 points, four months from the general election.
Beshear leads Republican state Attorney General Daniel Cameron 52% to 42% in the ballot test, which was conducted by the firm Public Opinion Strategies for the Prichard Committee, an education-focused group in Kentucky. (Public Opinion Strategies conducts the NBC News poll along with Hart Research Associates, a Democratic firm.)
Beshear's approval rating is also above water, with 63% of registered voters in deep-red Kentucky saying they approve of the job he's doing. Just 35% of voters disapprove of the job he's doing.
Yes, Cameron’s allies have a nasty ad up saying that Beshear wants to have surgery to change the sex of minors in Kentucky. Obviously, it’s a huge lie, but it’s one that Republicans think will win them the governorship this November. Too bad for Repubicans even Kentuckians did not want to outlaw abortions, and Cameron and his ilk did just that when the Dobbs decison from the SCOTUS came down.
Republicans have supermajorities in both houses of the state legislature.
But Andy Beshear is not shy about running on abortion access for women. He did that back in 2019, and he won. With Cameron looking to access a woman’s patients records for possible prosecutions with regards to out of state abortions, I hope that Beshear will use that news and pummel Cameron to death with it.
And as a reminder folks, Cameron is one of McConnell’s acolytes. I would LOVE for Beshear to win, if only to have him stomp on the Sith Lord’s apprentice. And Cameron is a dangerous guy. He’s a black Republican who has embraced MAGA. In other words, Republicans cannot be racists because they support Daniel Cameron!
Looking forward to November.
