This is one of the few instances where I actually agree with the Right.

Its a freaking nickname-its not like they called themselves the Washington Fascists, KKK, Nig ers, etc..

I remember a number of years we went through with the same thing with UMASS in Mass because their nickname was the Redmen ,and some folks

objected, and didn't think the name was appropriate and put enough pressure on to get it changed to the current name of UMass Minutemen.

They may name the team after the Tuskegee Airmen.

It is kind of ironic that last night I was hungry and looking for a snack in the house.

Well it turned out that I had forgotten that I had one can of Planters Redskin Spanish Peanuts left, and thus I opened up the can and had a nice snaack.

However when I saw on tv today that that the Washington Redskin name change controversy had come up, I thought back to the can

of peanuts and the question came to mind as to whether Planters should also change the name of the peanuts to something more suitable.

I mean how demeaning it must seem to some folks who are of Indian or Spanish descent to be reduced to and referred to as a "peanut."

I am not sure what the name could/should be changed to, perhaps something along the lines of Red Span Peanuts or Sprednuts.

In any case some kind of action is needed now in changing the name, because of the fear that some people may get indigestion or even diarrhea

from the guilt feelings cause by the term redskins while eating them, or worse, may need professional help from ungoing guilt feelings from having eaten them

in the past now that stuff like this has drawn public attention.

Stick to your day job of being a pain in the ass to the members here. That may have gotten a laugh in 1968, hanging around the old water cooler at the Food Stamp Fraud Division but it is pretty weak in the 21st century

You are one strange character.

All I can say is that judging by the several responses so far, that as I suspected, people are wound so tight that they they can't appreciate/understand what

good parody and humor is.

I wonder what they would say about Bill Maher's segment of "New Rules" on Real Time with Bill Maher, which is brilliant, hilarious and relevant

to the news of the say, and has most people like me both laughing and considering the deep thought behind it because what he says is so true.

I am "strange" in that folks in here want to peg and strereotype me as a far left liberal, whereas I am

in fact from that and am a free thinker.

In fact right before I retired back in 2003, I remember going to a meeting regarding sexual harassment in the workplace.

I still remember how hard I laughed inside when someone running the meeting stated

that it would be considered sexual harassment if a guy said in a good natured way to a fellow

woman whom he worked along side of that she "looked hot today" and that it would be grounds for her to report it to their boss.

I thought both then and still do that using an example like I just cited is one reason why our society is getting sadly

soft and may very well be in a permanent state of decline.

Imo a strong woman would not go running to her boss bent out shape because someone said she looked hot, but

rather would either chuckle, thank him for the compliment ot simply say nothing at all.

And yeah I do believe that being forced to change a harmless word like the Washington Redskins to something else is just

another example of this softness, either that or that some people are so bored and/or bereft in things to do in their own

lives, that they concoct nonsense like above in order to engender something missing in their own dead end and miserable lives!!

Now excuse me as I have to chat with some of my far left liberal friends, who I am "100% sure" will

agree with me about this. lol

Maybe those of us who own a(pussy) cat should ask him/her if they are offended by the use of the word "pussy" when talking

about a certain part of the female anatomy! lol
