Okay guys,

After a near miss with Lee Westwood last week at the British Open, I am back with a few selections for this week's winner at the RBC Canadian Open. This is an interesting tournament because we have to take into consideration the travel of all those players who competed in the British Open last week, especially the players who made the cut. While I think that travel and fatigue may play a factor for a few of the more marquee golfers in the field, I also think that the experience of playing well and competing in a major will give a few guys confidence that they can compete with the best players in the world. Golf is all about confidence and riding a hot streak. It is interesting to look at a player's record over the years. Most PGA Tour pros make the majority of their money over a six or eight week "hot" stretch. So, without further comment, here are my selections for the RBC Canadian Open.

Steve Marino (28:1) $50 to win $1,400. Before you refer to my statement of certain players being fatigued from the British Open, let me tell you that a major reason why I am making this selection is Marino's performance at this very event last year. Marino finished T3 after shooting three consecutive 67's followed by a final round 70. Also, it's no secret that Marino was in contention at last week's British Open going into the weekend. After struggling on Saturday at Turnberry, Marino ultimately finished T38 which should leave him a bit hungry for a better finish this week. Marino has played great all year and has the potential to win on the PGA Tour. If anything, I think that his struggle on the weekend at Turnberry will motivate him to come out this week and prove to himself that he is good enough to win. He knows he can play well and he knows he can win on the PGA Tour. Marino has three Top 7 finishes this year and finished in the Top 5 four times last year. I think this could be his week to shine.

Kevin Na (30:1) $50 to win $1,500. Kevin Na has FOUR top 5 finishes this year. He kind of flies under the radar, which I particularly like because it means we have good odds. Na finished T8 last year at this event and, despite being ranked 20th in the Fed Ex standings heading into the PGA Tour event last week, did not play at the British Open. I really thought Na had a good chance to win last week on the PGA Tour when all the big names were playing at Turnberry. Na didn't end up winning last week which makes me like his chances even more this week. He did play well in Milwaukee last week though, finishing T7. I think Na is ready for a win on the PGA Tour and this could be his break out week.

Bryce Molder (45:1) $50 to win $2,250. Guys, I picked Molder a few weeks back because he was riding a hot streak. I'm a little skeptical about picking him here in this spot because he has played about 6 weeks in a row, including the British Open, but I really believe this guy is primed for a PGA Tour win. He was the first ever four time First Team All American in college golf and despite struggling for most of his career on the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour, Molder is finally having a good year. He knows how important it is to win a tournament on the PGA Tour (2 year full exemption on PGA Tour, lifetime membership to Nationwide Tour, and pairings each week with other "winners") so I expect Molder to win before long. This was a last minute decision, but I wouldn't be able to sleep if I passed on Molder this week and he finally came through. Let's hope he's not too worn out from the British.

Jeff Overton (50:1) $50 to win $2,500. Here is my "dark horse" this week. I told you all that I liked to pick a "dark horse" each week because of the good odds you can get when I picked Leonard and Weir last week (both 90:1) and Leonard had a very strong showing, just like I predicted. This week I'm taking a "young gun" with a lot of talent. Overton, a '05 Indiana graduate, has been playing well all season. Like Na, Overton has been flying under the radar this year, but has made 15 of 19 cuts. This is a pretty impressive stat for such a young player. It shows me that he can play well on all sorts of different golf courses. Overton has placed inside the Top 13 five times this year, all over the country, so we know he is a competitor. Oh, and the most recent T13 finish was last week at the British Open, which should give him some confidence coming into this week. My $50 says Overton has a great week this week. Look for him to be in contention on Sunday.

Please check out my match-up bets as well. My internet site doesn't list the match-up odds until Wednesday morning so I will have them up as soon as I can.

Best of luck!
