Rams ticket controversy

The Rams had instituted a policy that only those with a Los Angeles zip code could buy tickets on the secondary market for the upcoming Rams/49ers playoff game. They apparently lifted the ban on Monday. They didn't want SoFi to be filled with 49ers fans as it was during the regular season meeting. This really isn't complicated. During the Las Vegas Golden Knights inaugural season the Knights basically controlled the season ticket market. They had numerous restrictions as to how many games a season ticket holder could sell if he held a block of 7-8 seats. They did this to prevent opposing teams from taking over the arena. Because Las Vegas is a big tourist destination they didn't fans from a team like Tampa Bay Lightning to snap up all the tickets on the secondary market. The Nationals did this a few years ago from preventing Phillies fans to take over National Park. The Rams could have had a list of restrictions at SoFi. They could have forced season ticket holders who wanted to sell and make those tickets available only on the Rams secondary market and not StubHub or Ticketmaster. There is always ways around this but the idea is to keep visitors to a minimum. If you can't get season ticket holders in the first year of a new stadium to hold onto tickets against a hated rival you have a real problem. As a Rams fans why the hell would you sell your seats for the NFC Championship game. Remember how sad it was for game 7 of the Indians/Cubs World Series. Cleveland Indians season ticket holders dumped the tickets because Cubs fans were willing to buy the tickets at any price. Most said they needed the money and were content to watch at home.

If the Chargers played the Rams in a regular season game, they couldn't fill up that stadium. I think 49'er fans will figure out a way to get to the game.

If you wanna sell then sell, who cares.

Teams make you buy preseason tickets, no loyalty

Rams are owned by some dude worth like 10B, he wants to spend 20m buying up all the tickets and giving them to rams fans then he can do it himself

I heard the Rams owner say that he would buy them back.

I'm sure these season ticket holders are pissed that they cant get top $$$ of these tickets since they paid an arm and a leg for a PSL

9ers got a lot of old school 80's/90's fans with $ to blow thanks to decades of California riches and they are galvanized.

Vivid analytics predicting stadium gonna be 65% red

^ I heard in the week 18 matchup, there were more niners fans there than rams fans.

Nothing like having 2 teams in LA where the visiting fanbase is usually the majority

Joke that the 49ers are getting 3.5 point at a neutral site against a team they 100% own

This pretty common in some markets. Like Jacksonville, LA, etc. Warm weather markets. Used to be true for AZ but that’s changed ever since they made their Super Bowl run 13 years ago or whenever that was. Since then they’ve had a pretty strong/loyal season ticket base.

^ When the dolphins play a team with a STRONG fan base, its usually a 50/50 or 60/40 split in Miami.

Season ticket holders dont mind getting top dollar for their tix to sell to opposing fans

About 5 or so years ago, the dolphins changed their stadium layout and season ticket holders were able to choose their new seats based on how long they have been a season ticket holder. I was going to buy 2 or 4 tickets behind the visitors bench just to sell the tickets to opposing fans. I decided not too as i was too afraid to eat the tickets when they played crappy teams or the preseason games
