Rail, you're one of the smartest guys here, but ASU, UCLA, Cali and Oregon are tougher matches than Ohio St? That's just plain stupid. UCLA wouldn't stay within 17 of OSU and Ohio St would win by a TD easy over the rest. USC is a better team and they might cover, but that statement was ridiculous and showed way too much bias. Like the rest of the picks though minus UCLA. Duke is the best play of the week imo. GL
Actually, this is one of the few times I agree with the Bird. Cal, Oregon and UCLA have been a thorn in USC's side over the years compared to ooc teams. But he's really not saying anything new. In every conference, it's usually the conference games that are a team's downfall. Not the ooc games. As good as LSU was last season, it was their conference games against of all teams Arkanasas and Kentucky where they had their losses. And there was no way those two teams were in the top 10. And there was no way those two teams were as good as the Ohio State team that LSU beat for the NC. The teams you have to watch out for are the ones who are the most familiar with your offensive and defensive schemes...Conference teams.

I hope USC throttles them so we don't have to put up with the sweater vest in the National Championship game again....

That sweater vest is classic. Nothing like an ugly FC wearing that with eight camera men on him all at once.

To say OSU doesn't get players is laughable. Wasn't Pryor the #1 recruit in the nation last year. I'm sure he will have a big part this weekend. To even think OSU would run the same offense vs USC they did vs Ohio is laughable too.[/quot

Boeckman is pathetic. Last week result wasnt look ahead, it was who they were. Thye needed a 1st cheap shot on Ohio qb and 4th qtr refs to even win the game as a 35 fav. Ohio State only qulaity opps last 3 yrs has been Fla,Tex and LSU and were blown out in 2 and lost at home to
Texas.

Well said.. I don't think the calibur of team compares.. Could this be close if B. Wells was 100% MAYBE.. but he is not 100% so I say OSU loss by 14-17 points easy for USC at home.:hump:

rail,

what is your opinion on the cal/maryland game?

i am a terp but cal -14 seems too easy. i dont know who our qb will be next week but ive both watched turner play and met him last semester - this guy is a fucking moron IMO. i think MD will go down early and he will force bad passes and let cal run away with it as the crowd gets taken out quickly (which seems to happen frequently). i know maryland has a habbit of downing good teams (rutgers [OVERRATED] was the big one last semester, FSU a few years ago), but given that our best players are a quick wide receiver who our QB can't get the ball to very often and a RB who is quick but can't make his own plays - i don't see maryland doing anything offensively other than setting cal up for short TD drives.

Ohio backup qb played far better than their starter. Ohio St also beat Texas in Austin - a team USC couldn't beat basically at home. I like USC small in this game but OSU is a top-5 program.

not to come into your thread and bash, but some of this is silly...

whether it's you or dawoof, to say fred davis left columbus to usc "because he recognized" makes no sense...

what did he recognize, that he didn't want to play in the NC the last 2 yrs..??

no one but the recruiters and davis knows what happened there... you don't think the fact that oh st uses their TE's mainly to block instead of as a receiving threat had anything to do with it..??

sometimes it's a matter of personalities or what's in the best interest of these kids... maybe he WANTED to get out of state...

regardless, oh st gets top players... if they didn't they wouldn't have a NC title along w/ 2 other appearances since tressel took over, as well as 2 other BCS wins... thats 5 BCS apperances in 6 yrs... but they don't recruit:ohno:

Now you're just being silly.. Both USC this season & LSU last season had comparable offenses. And LSU's defense was statistically the best in the country last season from the best conference. USC is maybe the best team this year because LSU is down. But I'm not ready to crown USC anything. They've been known to screw the pooch during the season. And the last BCS championship game they played in they lost as 7 point favorites to a Texas team who wasn't even from the best conference.

Lets be real here, USC played their C game & still almost won the game. They got screwed with some bad ref calls which helped Texas get points. Ohio State has proven to NOT be a top 5 program of late. They don't compete well when playing the cream of the crop of late.

Half the crap this guy spouts is just to grab attention & start contoversy. i.e. "enrollment is down @ the svc. acadamies". Where the hell do your facts originate? Young men still line up to qualify for one of the best educations available. Do I think SC wins? Yes. Is OSU a top 5 school? of course, but w/o Wells it's going to be a long day. I'd like to have OU's O, w/SC D. OU in NC, but they better stiffen up their D.

This I agree with. USC is better than LSU and they were last as well IMO. Ohio St is better than they were last year though and are more experienced. Pryor will be a factor in this game.

Reggie Bush's attempt at a pitch was one of many mistakes USC made that night, they choked when it counted, give Texas a little credit. I hate Texas, but they played a solid game that night and the refs didn't make enough bad calls to screw USC.

People dont realize how good MArk Sanchez is, throws and runs like Elway. Joe Mcknight a big timer. OSU offense not close to SC. Boeckman would be 4th string at SC.

Had Duke as my top play of the week against Jmu (-2) and northwestern (+7). Like Duke again this week, however I am worried that they might have trouble with Navy's run with only one week to prepare.

Completely foolish. When will you USC backers realize how good LSU has been?

Lsu was solid team, nice nose tackle and fullback. Sanchez is a prime time player though. Muluaga is next Junior Seau. Joe Mcknight also special.

adding

Western Kentucky +28 over Alabama

Bama beat overrated clemson, offense lethargic vs Tulane. WKy more than solid and has been demolishing point spreads.

And Texas was no factor in USC playing their "C" game at home? Seems to me Texas had a lot of kids get to the NFL off that team. I hate Texas but they put up 41 on the SC defense. If Ohio St hasn't been a top-5 program the last five years, please name 5 better.
