A player has a clear break going in on an empty net and is hooked from behind. A penalty shot is awarded under the rules.

Does the goalie stay on the bench? I would think so.

Anyone ever seen it happen? /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Thanks.

Been watching hockey for ~30 years.

Never remember it happening.

occaasionally see it when guys throw sticks at puck going into/towards empty net. last time something like that cost me was at end of a bruins/oilers final game when a player lifted the net off the morring in the final minute and the ref awarded a goal. if recall corrctly it cost me a win on total giving me push.
