Question? : So I flopped a Royal Flush at Doyles Room in NL Tourney

The big blind was 200 and and I was the dealer. Most folded, but the last guy before me raises and bets 400. SO it is just me and him, so I raise 400 and he folds.
MY friend says I should have slow played, but when people are betting into me like that , and I have a hand like that, I'm raising. "Make hay while the sun is shining" is the way I look at it.
My buddy pissed me off and I wanted yall's opinion

Preflop nobdy raised, including me

I had Ks Js and the flop was As Qs 10s.

Btw I won the tournament

If I have the lock nuts I'd consider slow playing, but you probably didn't lose much if anything here. He bluffed and folded to strength, so if you had called he might not have fired another shell at you on the turn. When he checked and you bet he would have folded anyway. You might have made more with this line because he (and anyone else who was watching) would hesitate before trying to run you out of a pot after seeing you re-raise.

I'll bet that if there were more enemies at the table you wouldn't have raised... nothing better than to show the nuts to three or four opponents!

The possibility of running the pot up a lot more existed with slow play because you still have two more wagering opportunities after the turn and after the river.

I'd check and pray for a good turn for my opponent. He might think I don't have the nuts and raise/reraise on me.

You had a nice hand - but in my (still inexperienced) opinion, you didn't make the best play out of it.

Reraise intimidates people so they sometimes muck average hands and drawing hands. You want him to improve his hand. Hope that the next card gives him 2 pair or a straight or a high flush. That’s why you have to slow play in that situation. Let him draw out into a large hand and make a bet. You can always raise him on the river if he never bets.

you are last to act so you will always get to put the last bet in in case he doesnt......why not let him bet into you trying to bluff you or betting with marginal hand.....its a perfect situation to keep just flat calling.

I've seen a lot of hands lately and I slow play often as well as bet aggresively, but obviously I thought I was doing the right thing. I will concede to yall, but not to my friend

As the dealer there is no way you bet until after the river, PERIOD. You hope he improves...........

I have to agree with people here. I would smooth call on the flop. Most likely he would have checked to you on the turn...I would have checked right behind him. If no spade hit the river he may put you on a missed flush draw and bet into you again setting you up for a raise. My 2 cents.
