I have nothing on this topic. However this is what this forum should all be about. Everybody working together for the better of the wagers, and beating your book. For the record that would be some good information to have. Good luck on your research

It is ridiculous that the NHL or some advanced stat outfit doesn't keep offensive zone time. I think NHL.com used to keep it years ago but I'm not sure about that either. Anyway, I thinks SOG are very telling regardless of where they came from. When a team dominates shots on goal, they are 99% of the time dominating the game. After all, the goal is to shoot on goal and try to score. When a team is taking a shot on goal it means they have the puck, which means the other team does not have it and it really is that simple. If they did keep offensive end time, I would bet anything that it would very much correlate with shots on goal.

SOG isn't as telling as Corsi (imo) for offensive possession time. corsi is all shots attempted whether on goal, wide, or blocked

Yes. I'm not on board with Sherwoods statement either. When a team grabs a lead, I estimate 80% of the time the opposition will out shoot the team that got the goal or the lead. I pay attention to this closely. It just makes sense they will play harder trying to even the score or get back in the game. I see it in the boxscores all the time.....Team grabs an early lead....the other team comes on strong. Team with the lead withstands the onslaught and scores another. And a lot of times another. THe teams that get behind with put more pressure on unless its a very strong team like the Hawks or the Kings or this year Washington. THe teams that grab a lead and continues to outshoot the other are teams worth backing. Otherwise, those advanced stats are all skewed and can VERY easily be misleading. The devil's in the details boys.

Yes I look at the shot charts all the time. Looking for location of the shots on the ice. Really pay attention to the mid and lower circle shots. Those shots peppering from the point and top of the circle doesn't even register to me.

ok, then. if you prefer to use the nhl.com version it is easy to read and perhaps will not invoke a pre-pubescent girl's response?

Easy mate...my humor is clumsy but it was intended as a compliment to DJ's site....Very extensive and not at all difficult to interpret.

I turned polyforum posting of past five years into nonstop rueful irony, but take our shared interest in betting hockey quite seriously

Thanks for the reference. It will become a staple in my own pucks betting

Have honestly made maybe a dozen NHL wagers in past three seasons while being more focused on my business expansion. But I am back up again in a new home (since March) with a complete office space & laptop resources I heretofore needed when wanting to wager hockey (and NBA) on a mostly daily basis.

Thanks again for the site link
