I was told that some people don't like all the listed games for Sunday to appear at the top of this forum and take priority over other posts, so I temporarily unhighlighted them so that the most recent posts would appear at the top...

On Saturday Night/Sunday however, we plan on putting these matchups back on top...

Do you agree or should we keep all the Sunday Matchups at the top throughout the week?

Your opinions do matter so please give me feedback..

Thanks,
THE SHRINK

I like them at the top all of the time. The only reasons I would see that someone wouldn't like them up all of the time is that they don't like them at all or they have a slow internet connection and it is a pain to move to page 2 for some posts.

I feel they should go where the replies take them. If there is a lot of feedback on a particular thread, then it should be near the top.

But a Bears/Lions thread, which probably isn't going to generate a whole lot of discussion, should fade down to the bottom.

Let the thread itself dictate where it should be come Sunday morning.

I dont mind seeing them at the top...

If you arent interested in a game then you just look beyond it - and you can see by the number of views and replies how much interest there has been in it.

I like the idea of leaving them up all the time - after all it is an NFL picks thread. To me its a waste of time to read through everyone's individual thread (to see if there is anything of interest) but when the game threads are all locked at the top people will be more inclined to share their opinions there which ultimately will be a more public forum.

And people can still mull around in their own threads - as well as post other threads that discuss a certain issue in greater detail.

I suppose the only way to know for sure is to try it for a week or two then see how good the discussions are in each thread... if they all tank then I'd say go back to square one. but its worth a shot.

In the one month I've been visiting this board, I've noticed that most of the threads that contain so-and-so's picks of the week offer very little information and are more of a simple statement. Those highlighted threads, however, are full of opinion, insight, injury info, etc. and are infinitely more useful. I'd much rather not have to scroll through all the touting threads to find something I can help base my own opinion on.

I think McIrish had a fantastic idea.

Just my two cents.

I liked them at the top, although they did take up a lot of room. Now it's kinda hard to find them, and they do have some good info in 'em.

I amwith Big Lou 100%

Read,if you have not already, my post under CFB forum. Ilikethe make up of the matchups, but let the POWERof the matchup with replies take or it leave it where it goes based on replies. All the information in the thread is coming from forum subscribers anyway. Unless you make those threads special by adding service plays to them, then let them fall into fair balance of where they deserve to go.

Also realize that gamblers like to place their posts also, and the strength of this forum in the past is, lay down your posts, your cash, highlight them on the forum.....and the let the "River Cards" fall where they may.

Also realize that the average computer screen is no more than 10-12 inch monitor. take3 inches away with the banner, and now 7 inches with in place posts, and well not much left.

my thoughts...Newport

Good points but you must admit that letting it go like that also ignores the fact that many people could miss the thread if it even once falls off the list of the 10 most recent posts...

and you make the point well also - there is only so much space and people only have so much time.

The more people post into other threads the less of a chance the matchup thread will have to be seen - at which point people actually interested in it have to go digging - and people unaware that it was there will never know...

I think I am about to make the most important point, and it came to me after reading Jawpaws post.

Even if I do check out the game matchup thread, I am still going to go and check it out everyone elses, so searching is still going to be done no matter how much you shake it or bake it. So why take up 3/4 of your screen with the same threads.

Part of the excitement of a sports gambling forum is searching out your favorite posters

THIS POINT RIGHT HERE IS WHAT MAKES THE FORUM POPULAR and keeps people using the forum. And as NEWPORT has said before the site's revenues are judged just like TV and RADIO...RATINGS

......take the IDENTITY a poster gets from being on here away, and people go find excitement and identity some where else.

NEWPORT is very smart when it comes to Business, and how to make business. Take away peoples EGO's on this site. May as well shut it down.

Searching is still going to be done - and people will still have their individuality - and you make a great point - maybe there should be a new subcategory - NFL matchup discussion threads only...

Because there are plenty of people out there trying to make an identity for themselves and that does make it more interesting but then again the point of the forum is to strike a balance between people showing off who they are and discussing the topics...

The matchup threads would just save people time.

and like I said if noone uses them then they could be removed...

its worth a try for a week or two

I like them at the top.

But I am already on record as saying more than once that a completely separate forum titled "NFL Matchups" would be the best of both worlds.

I agree with Lou here. I want them to go to the top when their is action in the thread, not just because it's a game thread.

I think there should be a seperate matchup forum for them which can have strict rules on posting info & info only. If any bashing, etc starts then ban them so it stays clean. A few other forums have them separately & it seems to work out for the best.

MFG - what do you say about the chance that people would miss the thread if it falls off the map?

I know that you gotta be a real idiot to miss a thread like that if you are a seasoned "poster" - but in a few weeks noone will remember this discussion and if noone posts to it till late in the week and some people dont check the board till late in the week chances are anything they have to offer will end up buried in their own threads labeled "billy bob's picks of the week" and such...

people who are familiar with this forum look for certain posts routinely.
let the strength of interest decide where each post ends up.

Big Lou is correct. Let he readers decide, by the number of replies each posts gets, where they should go. Let this be a true democracy.
