Hello- I am a novice when it comes to soccer and I am trying to gain a better understanding of the point spread vs moneyline strategies.

Here are the USA vs Japan odds on Bodog:

Point Spread
Japan Pick (+175)
USA Pick (-225)

Moneyline
Japan +185
USA -125
Draw +260

Why is there such a variance between USA moneyline and USA point spread, given the spread is pick?

Money line is a 3-way line, and is for 90 mins+injury time only (excludes extra time and shootouts). If you bet USA as a pick, and after regulation it is still tied, your bet is treated as a push, like laying -3 in a NFL game and your team wins by 3. If you play USA on the 3-way ML and it is still tied after regulation, you lose (and so would Japan bettors). Only the draw betters would cash.
