Hell, I might start drinking Russian Vodka in honor of Putin!! ... Good job, Vladimir!!!

March 7 issue - It was meant to be a heart-to-heart: just the two presidents and their translators, sitting alone inside the historic castle that overlooks the Slovak capital of Bratislava. Four years earlier, in another castle in Central Europe, George W. Bush looked Vladimir Putin in the eye and saw his trustworthy soul. But what he saw inside Putin last week was far less comforting. When Bush confronted his Russian counterpart about the freedom of the press in Russia, Putin shot back with an attack of his own: "We didn't criticize you when you fired those reporters at CBS."

Chalk up another edition of a left wing wack job siding with a socialist over a president who is pushing human rights over government intrusion over the lives of societies.

If what Bush did with Putin is your idea of pushing, your a bigger candy a$$ than most rednecks I've met. What with all the Vladimir my friend and looking in to Vladimirs soul and all. He did every thing but polish his knob(of course we don't know what happened behind closed doors). Bush wants freedom for all the countries he is sure he can defeat militarily, the others get long deep soulful looks.

Doc Mullah, keep repeating that quote that Bush fired the reporters at CBS, and keep getting ridiculed. Sounds like you and Putin are on the same intellectual plane.

I had the opportunity to listen to a visiting Russian Political Science professor speak about his country last year. It was a moving presentation. It was difficult to hear him reflect on the glimmer of hope the country had after the collapse of the Soviet Union, a hope that has been essentially squelched in recent times.

Hey Doc, I know this is primarily a gambling site but in this particular forum we discuss issues that affect real people in the real world. For you to essentially applaud Putin for his repressive actions is not disgraceful, but pathetic. I would call it disgraceful if I believed you actually had an inkling of the import of what is happening on the other side of the globe, how it affects millions of people, most of which yearn to achieve a semblance of the freedom you enjoy. Instead I think you just don't care, but instead look at this whole issue as some sort of game, a game where you have chosen the anit-Bush/American side on every issue.

Please let me know, do you consider the Russian media situation to be analgous to the one in America? If so, why? If not, how can you applaud Putin for essentially eliminating free press in Russia? Being anti-American is fine, but if it means being pro-dictatorship then what is the point? Don't be a reflexive homer on every issue, out of respect for all the Russians who will be jailed or blackballed for speaking out against the Russian government.
