Especially at home, Maryland has a strong track record against the Big Ten's top scoring centers. Hence, the Terps held both the visiting Hoosiers and the visiting Wolverines to under 60 points while both of those latter teams are led by an excellent scoring center. In search of a big win, expect Maryland's defense to be extra concentrated also against Purdue's host of guards who will try to make up for the extra attention that Maryland devotes to stopping their uniquely well-sized teammate inside but who lack the three-point efficiency of previous Boilermaker guards. The Terps also suffer a low three-point conversion rate, but they will also struggle to score inside given the unique length of Purdue's top rim protector and given Purdue's top-ranked ability to avoid fouling.
