I just happen to have 5Dimes props still on my screen. This is how they have it worded.

Miami gains 1st first down +105

NYJ gains 1st first down -125

There would have been no confusion if this was the way ABC had it worded.

Here's my take on it. Disclaimer: I've never used ABC Islands.

It looks like there are two issues here:

1. Should the bet stand? IMO, the bet should stand. As others have mentioned, one should always get clarification on a prop before betting it if it's not clear to them. That said, given that it's a common prop and that both teams were listed, I think it's clear as to what the meaning is. Since both teams are listed, how can it possibly be a prop of the Jets vs themselves -- i.e., the Jets do event x on their first drive? It has to be some event Jets vs Miami. If you're intent on disputing the wording, I think you'd have a better case if you claim to interpret it as something else Jets vs Miami.

2. ABC Islands' customer support. If their customer support sux (and it may very well), it's your option to not use the book. But that's not grounds for a refund for this particular bet.

When I chime in on these particular threads, I probably agree with the player more often than the book. However, I can't here as I think the book is in the right.

abc is in the wrong here, because no where in the wager does it say first first down

they refuse to believe that, and let me think whatever they want

My impression of the poorly worded prop is that it is the team to make the first 1st down. I don't know what the poster could have been thinking otherwise.

If he was unsure he should have asked the book for a clarification. I email books all the time to make sure I know what the prop is.

He bet to win $500 on a bet he wasn't sure of?

wow, i read this and ABC just robbed him. I dont see 1st first down like they had at 5 dimes. they just had 1st down

ABC needs to pay him or refund him because they cant assume the bettor understand the bet the way they do

CLASS-LESS ACT BY ABC BY NOT SOLVING THIS ISSUE BEFORE IT HIT THE FORUM.

it said team to get first down

maybe it meant
longest first down
shortest first down
most first downs

how are you supposed to assume its 1st first downs?
