I'd say in the 40-45 range as well is when you are getting older ;. My youngest daughter now 34, hates to be called Ma'am, I tell her it is just respectful, now calling an eldery or oldish lady, young lady can be disrespectiful unless coming from a Southern gentlemen, then it's like driving miss Daisy.
At Wal Mart , I witnessed a young white guy , like 30 , calling my senior coworker ( like 70 ), Mom, that wasn't cool at all, but something you encounter, I felt it was rude, but I guess no different than call me Pops ?
