Negreanu let his ego get the best of him. This was simply not a smart challenge for him to accept. He will end up losing millions, unless he humbles himself and takes a buy out to back out earlier. That would also be quite the ego hit.

Polk even though he was retired(whatever the fuck that means in regard to poker..haha) is far and away the better poker player and unbelievably better player HU and online.

It was funny to see the old school(tv players) back Negreanu and see Polk as only a 4 to 1 favorite. Polk should have been around a 15 to 1 favorite in reality.

So much variance in heads up poker I would take the 4-1 odds

Not when playing 25k hands and not when one guy is top 15 or so in the world and the other doesn't even crack top 10,000. IMO

Not counting large tournament play fields in which Negreanu is one of the best, but this ain't that.

Polk trolled him for some time to get him to fall into this trap. Nothing like an easy 2 million or so because the others ego finally couldn't take it anymore.

Must be nice...haha.

I seem to have seen this tactic used on this forum on a much smaller scale very recently .

Who knows he may have the whole thing sponsored and most of the money backed .
He probably won’t be out of much of his own money even if he loses

What kinda bankroll do these guys have? Wonder how many bust and have to borrow or get sponsored to get back into the game. Be a stressful ass life for sure.

Whatever happen to Matt from Indiana on here? Reading his stories were interesting. I thought I read he got out of poker.

It's important to know your strengths but more important to know your weaknesses.

My cookie cutter advice for the day :)

All those "old" tv players back in the day are basically gone.

Sponsorship is not even a small fraction of what it was...Hell i was sponsored by Absolute Poker back in the day, that is how much money there USE to be.

Players still doing well with sponsorship, are Dnegs, hellmuth, to a lesser degree Ivey and that is about it.

I watched the HU on the first 200 hands. Negreanu was up over $100k I believe. It is harder to watch it when it's online. The swings are crazy but I think Negreanu learns and comes back. Down $268k is nothing the stakes they are playing.

Agreed. Dnegs is only behind by around 7 buy-ins which is nothing in heads up poker.

I'll give you 7 to 1 on Dnegs. Nothing crazy, lets say $200 max wager on your part. LMK :)
