me and my buddy are disagreeing about the draft and I was just wondering if any of ya had some opinions on it.

starters are QB, WR, WR, RB, TE, W/R, K, DEF

QB's - Rivers and Cassel
WR - Andre Johnson, Percy Harvin, Maclin, Collie
RB - Benson, Jamal Charles, Barber, Hightower
TE - Shiancoe, Dustin Keller
K - Janikowski
DEF - Philadelphia

thanks in advance.

Sorry to say this but that is a very weak team no matter what format. I guess you had the 8th or 9th pick and picked Andre Johnson, Then picked Cedric Benson. Then a lot of QB's were going off the board so you picked Rivers in a panic. I then assume you picked Jamal Charles while there were still some decent WR's on the board like Greg Jennings and Marques Colston. Then right after you picked Charles a bunch of WR's and TE's were drafted so you picked Percy Harvin and Shiancoe back to back. While starting RB's such as Ahmad Bradshaw, Ronnie Brown, CJ Spiller, Knowshon Moreno were still on the board. There was probably better options at WR still available like Malcolm Floyd and Mike Wallace. It also appears that you could possibly be a Vikings fan with your picks of Harvin and Shiancoe possibly being back to back picks. It is always tempting to draft players from your home team to make those games more interesting for you.

Correct me where I am wrong on my analysis.

I have a pretty good background when comes to fantasy football. I usually play in 3 leagues a year. I haven't missed the playoffs in about 8 years. In one league I am on a run of 4 straight super bowl wins and in my keeper league I have played in the super bowl in 3 out of the past 4 years with one win.

From my experience I am not an easy owner to trade with as I have a tendency to offer trades that lean towards my favor so my drafting skills are very critical. In my drafts I try to stay ahead of the league by not going with the flow and drafting a different position to cause other owners to panic and reach for a player they were targeting in late rounds. Sometimes if you step up and draft a top tier TE early or grab a second tier QB a few spots before he is projected you can cause the owners to follow suit and draft the same position. This is key because you can get them to spend a draft pick on a lesser player that you have already addressed for yourself.

Another thing I have learned is forget what you saw last year. Don't fall in love with a player because he saved you last year. Usually a player that comes out of nowhere the previous year ends up being a bust the next year either due to injury, signed with a new team or he is a depth chart question mark.

Whether you have the #1 pick or the last pick you have an equal shot to draft a playoff team. With a little free agent/waiver luck and health you can turn that team into a super bowl worthy squad.
