I have been there. Same situation except it never hurt my son at that time. I lost 30g in 3 months in 1988. Using up every bit of equity we had in my house and savings. We literally had nothing left and on the verge of bankruptcy let alone personal ruin.

My wife helped me out by working double shifts at the hospital and we got thru it together.

I STOPPED gambling for quite a few years, started my own business and like to consider myself pretty damn successful and definitely blessed financially and otherwise.

What I am getting at, is that although you hit rock bottom, not everyone needs to be smacked with a 2x4 when you are down, I was sincere in getting my sh*t together and I did.
If Chief is sincere, then a bail out, some help can do more good than anything else. Maybe some of us, need to have tuff love, but sometimes all we need is this SCARE to put us on the right track. It did for me. I gamble for enjoyment now and can afford to LOSE tens of thousands if I had, but choose never too again.

If Chief needs any support financially, I have no problem investing in someone for $151.00.
Sometimes it could be a great investment.

Not everyone needs GA or having to lose EVERYTHING to learn a lesson and move on.

Yet, Many surely do.
It is up to each and everyone to make that choice.

I started out hooked on 3 things, pussy, booze & gambling. But only one was truly an addiction and it actually DID cost me everything, home, kids, job, health. I`m not a "bible thumper", but when I quit 30 yrs ago this Aug, I didn`t know why and still don`t. Since nothing was any different that time than a thousand others. I have since come to believe it was a "Higher Power" and my life was meant to be more than what it had become. Many will scoff at this post, all I know I`m alive today. You will be too, but you have to WANT it for you, sounds selfish but it works. Don`t mean to preach but your post struck a chord! Wish you strength.

Your gambling is. It takes precedence over everything. Your family's future, your self respect, all of your material possessions. Not are you gambling away everything you have, that is your choice, you are gambling away everything your wife and daughter have. If they are so precious, you should have considered that. You are an addict. I feel no sympathy for you whatsoever. I mainly feel comtempt for letting your family down. Maybe you are in the self pity stage, or you are looking for pity. The only pity I have is for your innocent wife and daughter. Stuck with a loser, at everything. And to bring God into it. God was not willing, you were. Somebody should stand you up and kick your ass. I wish your beloved wife and daughter would. Your behavior is not self destructive, it is/has destroyed your family. I have a large family, six kids. My wife and kids mean everything to me. Not my gambling. If someone said to me, with a machine gun to my head, gambling or family, I would choose family. Every single time. You did not. You probably never will. Unfortunately, your family trusted you. As mine does me. And Chief, do not blame the gambling, blame yourself. Seek help immediately. Write a contract with both you and your wife/daughter signing, on paper, the end of your gambling career. In it, include, this is your last chance to choose between the two. Put it in writing, not some lame promise you never intend to keep. Look at this contract everytime you wake up, every time you go to bed. You may really dislike what I have to say, but you should have been stood up and been made accountable many moons ago. Be a man, a husband and a father. Gambler is a title you should drop forever. I feel for you and I understand completely. If I may give some advise on what I did to solve this problem (well basically solve it)
First and foremost you must come clean to the family and explain your sickness. You probably did this 100 times already. You can't promise to quit because without super help--you can't. Don't takes this negatively I just have been in the business for over 35 years on boths sides of the book and I personally know very few people who quit. If you can convince your wife to give you another chance and tell her that you have a strategy that you heard worked for another individual just like yourself maybe things will turn out ok. I have lost hundreds of thousands and won hundreds of thousands booking and betting. I let your figure out which side did the winning.
Many days of booking found my entire 5 or 6 yellow sheets without one winner. Meaning no one for that day made more than they played. Yes, it is true, believe it or not.
We had a very small operation and still made a ton of money. Now back to your problem, I no longer book but I have the great desire to bet.
I could do without cards and casinos but I need sports action. For the past 5 or 6 years I have it under control. You see, imo it isn't so much the money--its the action. So if that is true I decided to play games for incredibly small amounts and never double up no matter what the circumstances. I have already bet as little as $2 on a game. Now if you play 10 games on Sunday and lose them all you lose 21 dollars. Not very likely you will lose them all. In fact, the irony of this situation is the smaller I play the better percentage I hit. I think it has something to do with not being afraid to take the dog and we know the dog barks loudly and often. If you use this strategy you should never lose more than a few bucks a week. Sending 100 to Pinnacle should last the season. They I believe, even allow $1 bets. I am not sure but I think so. Anyway, this strategy will give you the thrill and take away the pain. Now if you are a real degenerate and need the fear and rush of betting big than you better try another approach such as GA. But, give this a try and stay disciplined. Last, hey guys I know about tough love and all that but I would be willing to pitch in and send this guy a percentage of his loss to try and save his family and give him another shot. I know most of you are saying..what a sucker. I always would rather error on the side of being a sucker than being cold hearted. If any kind of support is being collected please let me know. I hope you get your act together, as probably all of us do.
