Talk about getting slapped in the face! That's exactly what the Manning family did to the Chargers organization on draft day. They drafted Manning, then shipped him to the Giants for the fourth pick in the draft and used that pick to grab QB Phillip Rivers from NC State. Trading down was not a bad idea, but drafting Rivers with that high of a pick was a big gamble. With a number of holes to fill, Maybe the Chargers should have grabbed a couple of lower first rounders and used Br4ees and Flutie one more season. Not sure who is running the show in San Diego, but Schottenheimer is still headman, at least one more season. If the sportsbooks are right, and Marty doesn't get to five wins, then he'll be in the unemployment line next season. Why doesn't Marty just retire anyway? There was some good news in last year's four win season , the Charger fans didn't get buried too badly as the Lightening Bolts covered seven games. One spot I like the Chargers in this season is when they go to Oakland in week 11. Prior to this trip the Chargers have the courtesy of their bye. Prior to the bye week the Chargers had two home games. You might be scratching your head wondering how the heck I like the Chargers here. Teams playing on the road after a bye, and off two home games before the bye are 12-2 ATS.
