Foul on Last Play of Half or Game

1. On a foul by defense on last play of half or game, the down is replayed if penalty is accepted.
2. On a foul by the offense on last play of half or game, the down is not replayed and the play in which the foul is committed is nullified.

Exception: Fair catch interference, foul following change of possession, illegal touching. No score by offense counts.

This is why Pittsburgh couldn't decline the penalty, as it is on the offense on the last play of the game. If they rule there was an illegal forward pass (which was the call upon review), then the play doesn't count and the game is over.
One problem with your arguement. The play was never sent to the replay booth, thus the play was never reviewed.

WRONG. This isn't the official rule. So, you are saying that the offense can be up 3 at the end of the game, fumble the snap (but were lined up in illegal formation & a flag is thrown), defense returns it for TD, and the play doesn't count?

I have seen plenty of shady things go on in the NFL but this one proves without a doubt the NFL is fixed!!!

The ref looked scared and knew he was lying when he came back and made that call...

Not even remotely close to a forward pass and you can advance any lateral...

This proves the NFL is most certainly fixed...

I am done with them, will not have anything to do with this "FIXED" piece of shit product.....

you people are fucking ridiculous...assuming that the nfl is rigged just because you dont understand a call that was made that cost you money... the call was correct..even if you assume the call was incorrect there is no way that play could have been fixed...what if the pass was incomplete? what if they passed it deeper? what if the defense never picked up the ball? there are so many things that cannot be fixed that people saying this just gets me angry. man up and take the loss. the call was correct. you are not an nfl referee you do not know the intricacies of the rules. the play was ruled correctly. stop thinking that because you think you got screwed that you are automatically correct.

i did complain yea, and then i stopped playing like the past 2 years because I didn't like losing. those that complain should take my hint if they keep complaining and stop betting so you dont have anything to complain about.

but like i said though its gambling. you lose more than you win to begin with. most of these games are flip of the coin. anyone putting sizable money on events like what happened in todays pitt game dont really deserve any sympathy to begin with.

you lost, get over it. if you couldnt handle it like me, then quit.

its just like a pitch back to a running back in the course of the game....if its muffed or fumbled, it can be advanced.

Complaining is one thing -- I don't mind that because I can just skip that thread and not be bothered with it -- but the entire NFL forum is now cluttered with multiple threads all whining about the same topic.

My vote is that we get them all merged into a single "I shouldn't have won my bet, then thought I was going to, then it turned out I didn't and I don't know whether to call it a bad beat or a near stroke of luck so I'll just say the game was fixed" thread.

HERE IS THE UH EXPLANATION OF THE FINAL TD IN PITTSBURGH (if u call it that).

PITTSBURGH (AP) -The first 11-10 game in NFL history shouldn't have ended that way, referee Scott Green said after a last-minute touchdown was errantly taken away from the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
The officiating mistake didn't affect the outcome since the Steelers still would have won, but the touchdown would have changed the score to 17-10 - or, more likely, 18-10, since the teams were lined up for an extra-point try that was never attempted.

On first-and-10 from San Diego's 21 with 5 seconds remaining, Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers threw a short pass to LaDainian Tomlinson over the middle for 3 yards. Tomlinson turned and made a handoff-type lateral to wide receiver Chris Chambers , who attempted to pitch the ball to a teammate only to have safety Troy Polamalu scoop it up and score from the 12.
Both teams left the field on what looked to be a game-ending play, but were called back by the officials for the extra-point attempt. At that point, the replay official called for a review.
After watching the play, Green initially announced the ruling on the field was upheld and the touchdown counted. But the officiating crew huddled again before the extra-point attempt and changed the call, deciding that an illegal forward pass by Rivers should've ended the play.
Green, in a postgame interview with a pool reporter, said that call was errant - even though his explanation for the confusion was almost as confusing as the play itself.
''We should have let the play go through in the end, yes,'' Green said. ''It was misinterpreted that instead of killing the play, we should have let the play go through.''
Green said the confusion occurred because there was a misunderstanding about whether Rivers' pass or Tomlinson's lateral was in question.
''The first pass was the one that was illegal, but it only kills the play if it hits the ground,'' Green said. ''That was incorrect to have killed it at that point. The ruling should have let the play go on. That's just the way that it played out. We believe the second pass (by Tomlinson) was legal.''
Green was asked why, since the first pass by Rivers did not hit the ground, the officials decided after huddling that the play should have ended there.
''We didn't kill it on the field,'' Green said. ''After (the) discussion we decided ... there was some confusion over which pass we were talking about and it was decided that it was the second pass that was illegal that did hit the ground and therefore we killed the play there.''
However, the officials realized afterward they erred.
''I know,'' Green said. ''The rule was misinterpreted.''
Asked about the officiating - the Steelers drew 115 yards in penalties to the Chargers' 5 - Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin declined to comment.
''No, I have never seen a game ended with 13-to-1 in penalties, but I am not answering questions about the officiating,'' Tomlin said.
The call affected betting on the game since the Steelers were 5-point favorites and would have covered if the touchdown counted

The NFL makes the NBA look like a good samaritans league.

So its confirmed then the fix was in? Honestly this whole mess would not have been half as suspicious if the penalities were not 13-1 against Pittsburgh. You put that fact on top of the bad call which the officials have now admitted and the NFL has some explaining to do. Look at the ref's explanation. The ruling had not effect on the outcome of the game....Then why did you review it in the first place? The play should never have been reviewed.

People can say what they want about whining but the bad call was not the ONLY suspicious part of this game. Even if you had no money on this game to not recognize this and then not question future contents is stupid.
