</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Hillis has 54 touches through two weeks, but is averaging just 3.4 yards per carry. This comes after he averaged just 3.9 YPC over the final eight games of last season. "Peyton is a bruising-style runner that needs a little bit of relief at times, and I think that's what we’ll try to do a better job of next time," said Shurmur. Selling high on Hillis is a value play.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>According to Cabot, the Browns remain "hopeful" he'll play on Sunday. Although strep throat is not a pleasant experience, the odds that Hillis doesn't suit up against the Dolphins are just about zero. Montario Hardesty will be in for a bigger workload than usual, but Hillis should still easily lead the Browns in touches.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>It sounds like he's getting better. The Browns likely consider Hillis day to day and probable to start Week 4 against the Titans. Keep in mind that Montario Hardesty is coming off a strong first start. It's certainly possible that Hillis and Hardesty will form a 60:40 rotation, respectively, going forward.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Hillis and Montario Hardesty engaged in a full-fledged two-back rotation against the Titans. Hillis touched the ball a season-low 15 times. Hardesty got 12 touches, but would've had more than the "starter" if not for four dropped passes. The drops by Hardesty could lead to a playing-time bump for Hillis, perhaps. The Browns face Oakland in Week 6 after a Week 5 bye.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>A good initial sign for Hillis' Week 8 status, but what he does in Wednesday practice will be the first real indication of where he's at after sitting out in Week 7. If Hillis is active against the 49ers, he could be in for a near 50-50 timeshare with Montario Hardesty, who ran for 95 tough yards against the Seahawks on Sunday.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>The real story is that Hillis took first-team reps ahead of Montario Hardesty, and is being projected for 20-25 touches Sunday against San Francisco. The limited practice isn't a concern. He'll be in the Week 8 starting lineup.

We'll know more about Hillis' status after Wednesday's practice. Remember that he was on track to play in Week 8 before he suffered a setback in practice.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>According to beat writers on the scene, Hillis ran with the first-team offense and appeared to be moving well. Coach Pat Shurmur will likely update Hillis' status after practice, but for now it looks like they are counting on him for Sunday's game against the Texans. If he can sustain health in tomorrow's practice and the game, Hillis will be in for a heavy workload.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>It's the second straight Monday Hillis has been ruled out, which suggests he's nowhere near a return. Coach Pat Shurmur would only allow at his press conference that he "thinks" Hillis will play again this season. This will be the fifth consecutive game Hillis has missed, and sixth of the year. Backup Montario Hardesty (calf) has yet to be ruled out, but didn't sound close when Shurmur spoke last Wednesday. For now, consider Chris Ogbonnaya likely to make his third straight start.

Sunday will be the sixth consecutive game he's missed, and seventh of the season. He remains worth holding onto if you have an available roster spot, but with Montario Hardesty (calf) nearing a return and Chris Ogbonnaya coming on the past two weeks, Hillis won't be coming back to a workhorse role.
