i agree now.i mentioned in an earlier post i have a system just as most of us do. in my system i make new england a 6 point fav. does any one else have new england as a fav of 6 or better?the question i have to ask myself is if NE is a td fav or right near it why didnt they open as such? this line opened at 2.5 and has dropped to 1.5 and so im thinking the oddsmakers know a bit more than we do here. its not a perfect system i have but its made me killer money this year. last week the chargers were 7 pt favs but i made them only 4 point favs making the jets the play. same with gb which i had gb as only 4 pt favs and in both cases the dogs won and covered. so i have to think indys the way to go. again im sure ill be shredded for sharing my thoughts but i had to jump in. glta.~RG

My system has New England by 5. Of course systems don't factor in individual match-ups and perhaps a lot of people think Indi will have too many legitimate receiving threats for New England to cope with. Although personally I don't go along with that.
I read somewhere, I think it was Bob Scucci, who said he opened the game in Week 1 NE -3, was bet to -2.5 by kickoff so this time opened 2.5 Simple as that.
And of course bookmakers anticipated a lot of money on Indi and it has come.

Roxygurl, I think the public is remembering NE's loss to Miami on MNF and seeing NE as vulnerable right now. Couple that with the the public's love affair with Payton Manning, and you have a lot of action on Indy....this just seems to be their year with Payton breaking Marino's TD record, defense looking a little better, and everyone saw the Colts dismantle the Donkeys last week.

Pats meanwhile have been flying under the radar. It's funny how a team that was seemingly invincible last year fails to cover 4 games this year and now is seen as damaged goods....they are still 12-3-1 ATS despite being FAVORED and laying points every game this year!!!!! Pats have not lost in Foxboro for over a year, Belichick has had 3 weeks to prepare for this Colts team which HE HAS OWNED!!!!!! Colts are playing well, but I won't believe they can beat NE in Foxboro until I see it. I think your line of NE -6 is right on. GL :suomi:

I have always said, and have learned, that when you can bet on a very good team with a line of -3 or lower, take it. New England is a great team. We all know this by now. The Colts have a great offense and Manning is having a lights out year. But if you break this game down, the Patriots have an advantage in just aobut every category. COrey Dillon has been waiting since 1997 for this game. He will be ready... Pats 24-17

Just want to add, I agree that this is as solid of a bet as you can make. Pats havent been as low as -2 all year from what I can remember, I may be wrong. I know the Colts have the edge in recievers, and I think the QB's and Rb's are a push, but everything else is in New Englands favor. Just a better all around team. I do live here, but I am from New york, adn I am a lifelong Bengals fan. So I feel I have a unbiased opinion. Good luck to you on whatever side you choose.

Agreed, Hardcorecap. This is the time of year when the team with the best defense usually wins. The problem is that 3 of the teams with the best defenses in these match-ups (Pitt, Philly, Atlanta) are all laying a TD or more.....they should win, but the back door is open! NE -2 is a value. Someone playing Indy +2 might as well put it on the ML because the odds are so small that they will lose by 1-2 points, they are basically picking Indy to win.....on the road.....against a team who hasn't lost a home game in a looooooong time.....and against a team whom they have not beaten in years. HHhmmmmm...

GL this weekend.

it is down to -1.5 @ olympic and if you wait - my guess is this gets to -1 or even "Pick" come game time

this line has USC/Oklahoma written all over it!

I'm with 'duck, if you like NE, wait. Let everyone bet on Indy, bring the line down, then bet NE ml (forget about a 1 or 1.5 line)..

If I remember correctly, NE was a 4 point favorite and won by 10 last year in the conference championship. Although last year, NE's DB's were able to push Indy's receivers all over the field. This year with the rule change, they can't do that anymore.....

Pt spread

My numbers say patriots by 5. N.E. will have to have a big day by Dillon to be successful this time around..Not sure if I play this one.

I dont want to beat a dead horse, but as a life long Bengals fan, I can tell you that Corey Dillon will have one hell of a day sunday. I cant guarentee Pats will win, but I am extremely confident in Dillon here. He will be pumped. This is the moment he came here for.

of course, every colt backer is neglecting to consider the fact that the colt defense isn`t exactly a brick wall.... it`s a smallish, quick unit that won`t be helped by playing outdoors on a frozen surface...

all everyone sees is the pat`s injured secondary and the great manning....well,there`s more to this thing....

i say again, last week`s win was over a bogus denver club....much like last year`s win was over a defenseless k.c. club.....

offense blinds everyone...

it`s not that easy for an indoor club in freezing temps vs a club that hasn`t lost at home in lord knows how long.....with a better coach...a better kicker(particularly outdoors)and a home field advantage...

last time i looked, manning hasn`t won anything yet...

maybe the colts turn the corner this year....i`ve always been told it`s smarter to stay with the trend than to buck it.....

that`s what i`ll do...let the chips fall where they may...

g.l. to all..

Last year...

NE and Under were my too biggest plays of the playoffs last year. I'd go right back to the well this year, but I'm worried about the distractions for the NE coordinators... Weiss to ND, Crennell being mentioned everywhere.
