Looking into a quality used pickup truck. Must be 2 door and short bed. Small like the 80's Toyota pickups (Hilux, Tacoma etc.). Would like a 4x4 and manual. 4 cylinder also. Old school Toyota's I like also (SR5, 22R, 22RE), but tough to find. Anyone have insight what make and models are good from the 80's - 90's or early 2000's? Want to spend around 5k-7k

Good luck on your selection. Sounds like you're making a smart, economical decision.

Where I live I see lots of Mexicans driving these 50k to 70k massive Ford or Dodge trucks that are about 6'5" high. I run the numbers
on this to compare monthly payment, insurance costs and Mexican income data in the United States.... and the numbers don't match up.

And I did not mention the cost of these shiny rims that throw on them. Whatever the case may be, it's ten times smarter than driving a motorcycle.

85 Yota with a 22re if it was me. I've almost bought one several times, eventually I will, but finding one unmolested and not turned into a mud machine is getting rarer and rarer. Good luck...The 22r's are the best 4 cylinder engines ever made imo.

Oh yeah...the GEM of pickups. Friend of mine in my area only deals with Toyota pickups, especially the 80's-90's. He builds them, restores them, drives 3000 miles to get them etc. He has nothing ready now, but he is $$$$

Another reason why I think your decision is a smart buy is b/c soon all cars will be under government control in the same way that your bank
account is under government control. They can simply turn it off with a switch. This is one of the negatives of technology. They can turn your
car off while you're driving down the freeway or run you into a tree.

The truck you wish to buy won't be allowed on the roads in the future as it provides freedom. Come to think of it, mechanics and mechanic shops may
be government organizations in the future just as the government has edged it's way into healthcare and requiring you to buy it. They'll control the vehicles and the industry of repairing of the vehicles.

Used to live in Cali and that was the case when I was there. Where I live now (probably 60% Mexican or >) it's different. The dying of the hair blond never ceases, though.

Went to see my friend yesterday and he has an 04 Tacoma 5 speed (4 cyl) 4x4 with a new frame and 150k. Also, it has been repainted and he wants 6500 for it. Don't know
