I go once a month and pay $30 for the haircut but I tip her $20 and I also give the shampoo girl $10 so it cost me $60. I always give huge tips whether its dinner, haircut, or whatever the case might be. For dinner I tip anywhere from 40-70% depending on how good he or she is. Like I have stated in other threads I am a huge believer in karma and I hate cheap people with a passion.

It's not cheap...it's frugal! Frugal- Avoiding unnecessary expenditure either of money or of anything else which is to be used or consumed; avoiding waste

I have never understood people who spend money like there is no tomorrow. I dislike people who have a bad case of the "spends" probably as much as you dislike people who are frugal.

$13 plus $1 tip

LOL...

Don't hurt yourself, Mr Pink

Gotta be a great scene when PO gives the haircutter a ten and a five and when dude hands him back two singles he graciously only keeps one.

Sorry guys, but I have never seen another man tip at SPORTS CLIPS!

OK, usually I will bump it up to $15 with a $2 tip. I thought that the idea of this thread was to find who pays the least for the haircut, hence the $1 tip. But I am not tipping more than 15% for a haircut at SportsClips. None of the other customers give anything

So before you were lying when you said $1 tip, and now that
someone called you cheap you're changing your story?

I don't think a generous tip is wasting money. That person is doing their job busting their balls to serve you. There's nothing more I hate in this world then a cheap person. Maybe if you were in their position you would think different.

haircut people make about $3 an hr or less, the rest of the salary comes from tips. I work at a restaurant and waitresses make like $2.35 an hr, but through tips they make around $25 or so an hr if work is steady.

BOXER, you are The Man.

A generous tip is not "wasteful", nor is it neccesarily a reward for above average service at that time.

Rather, it is a Solid Investment. An investment which pays guaranteed dividends in the future - often times in other places besides that particular receipient.

I long ago lost track of how often I myself receive a generous tip on my billed services, with the most common occurring just a day or less after I myself gave a generous tip to someone else.

And cool part is that a "big" tip for me might be to add $10-20 to a restaurant/bar tab and the subsequent nice tip to me for lawn/garden work is then $40-50 or more.

I can guarantee that the guy who cuts my hair makes over 100K a year. He works 12 hours a day..six days a week. It takes him about seven minutes to cut my hair. I think a $1 tip is adequate for seven minutes work.

I will take the position of Mr. Pink and have to wonder why I tip him at all. When something at the store costs $10 I don't feel the need to tip the checkout employee.

He likely makes no where near $100K a year, because there are too many poor tippers like you out there. He probably needs to work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week because of this same reason.

Your store comparison is awful. You are walking around a store full of items on your own and picking out what you want. The clerk is just ringing barcodes through and collecting your money.

Now if someone at the store came up and assisted you to find the best product, made a recommendation that maybe saved you some cash or turned out to be a better product, they'd be providing you good service and I would argue that person deserved a tip, though it likely wouldn't happen.
