I go once a month and pay $30 for the haircut but I tip her $20 and I also give the shampoo girl $10 so it cost me $60. I always give huge tips whether its dinner, haircut, or whatever the case might be. For dinner I tip anywhere from 40-70% depending on how good he or she is. Like I have stated in other threads I am a huge believer in karma and I hate cheap people with a passion.
I hope their giving you a "Happy Ending" for those tips...
me too. i get my hair cut at ulta for $30, and i always tipped $7-$8.
i never thought of the stylists like restaurant servers. they make at least min wage, right?
Barely more than that. Min. wage here in Vancouver is $8/hour and they may make $10-12/hour depending on the place, closer to $10 at most places. Like someone else said I just appreciate people in the service industry because I work in it myself. If the girl does a good job on my hair and is friendly and polite then she deserves a nice tip and I'll think nothing of tipping $15-$20 on a cut. Like this at restaurants too.
Mostly I just could never be "that" guy who sits there for a minute calculating exactly 15% of his $12.99 haircut and counts her out some spare change.
