There is a difference in taste between Pepsi and caffeine free Pepsi.
In a chemistry lab procedure in college we removed and isolated the caffeine from a strong brew of tea we had made. It was neat to do that and in the end we got to taste the white powder that was left over after several steps. I can't remember what all we did but it was not the simplest thing in the world to do.
Anyway, I got to taste the nearly pure caffeine and it was very bitter. It adds the bite to soft drinks and must be a fairly major flavor given how bitter it is.
My wife recently bought caffeine free Pepsi and I didn't care for it at all. The lack of caffeine made the Pepsi far too sweet, and I think Pepsi is too sweet to begin with anyway.
I never have tried the caffeine-free Coke. I'll have to try it. tulsa
