How many teams used 4 QB's and still made the playoffs? Ten games weren't division games. You missed the point entirely. Let me try again. If the coach can take 4 scrubs and make the playoffs, I'm confident he can do something with Brock. I'm not confident any QB in the upcoming draft can or will do any better. He has 4 years of experience under his belt.

I don't think Hoyer is a scrub. He's a servicable NFL QB. My point is the division sucks and in any other division, they were not in the playoffs.

Don't really this as an upgrade. More of a lateral move. Still have the best coach and talent in the division. Followed by Jacksonville

The Brocket Launcher AKA The Wizard of Osweiler could go either way, but atleast he has some potential. Hoyer, etc just weren't gonna get it done.

You get it. Are they paying for potential and upside? Of course. Hoyer, Weeden, Mallett, etc., have no potential.

He fits the mold that Bill likes. Of course they took a chance, but they've had pretty much nothing since they started. Schaub was good for a couple of years, but that was it.

It's funny how many NFL GM's post here.

Boy what a vicious cycle having a shitty QB has an affect on the team and their finances....

Based on what? He could shit the bed, he could be average, he could be pretty good. Do you have inside knowledge that the rest of us don't? Did they overpay? Of course, QB's are always overpaid. Has he proven anything? No, but what other options did the Texans have, Hoyer? Hoyer is a backup, nothing more.

As P. Manning showed us this past year, a team can win without a dominant QB. Does it help? Of course. The signing of Lamar Smith is huge, and Houston needs to improve it's o-line and get a tight end.

What kind of QB were they going to get with pick #22? I think in this case signing him made sense, and yes, they were desperate for anyone who resembles an NFL QB.

Only time will tell how it works out, but at least they might possibly have something other than an endless line of backups playing QB.

i figured o'brien wanted that bum hackenberg.

Rumor: Broncos talking with Steelers about Landry Jones

Good fit, can manage a game, no pressure, needs some more game experience, built like a QB should be.

Id like that trade depending on what Steelers can grab out of it, and Broncos would fit with him

that would be a massive mistake!! Talk about setting your team back........

If the steelers get a 3rd round pick or higher, Id take the deal if I were the steelers in a heartbeat

I can't really blame the Texans for this. It's a lot of guarantee for an unproven player but it's supply and demand. What's the alternative? Draft Paxton Lynch and let he and Weeden and Hoyer fight it out? And in December 2016, the likely verdict is you have 3 back-up qb's on the roster.

If anything NFL gm's and scouts have proven to consistently be very bad at their jobs. There's a few elites but most are idiots. So yes some of our opinions are better than guys paid to make these decisions. Never been a fan of Brock. Potential is a word that gets thrown around. Didn't Schaub have potential? Matt Flynn? Scott Mitchell? Yea he might grow into a good starter but no reason not to look that way in draft.

Did u just compare matt Schaub to brock osweiler? Geeze.

Matt flynn was a shrimp. He played well in the system he knew. Brock osweiler is 6"7. A former basketball player
He's an athlete. Just what the texans need at the qb position. An athlete. Not a robot like hoyer and not a wigger like mallet and not a pic 6 machine like matt Schaub

Not saying he will be great every week. But the defense and running game and deandre Hopkins will help him when he isn't making the right decisions some games.

Wow this guy hit the lotto....7 games played and he gets 18 million per yr and 37 up front....Take the money and run.

He won the lottery and played everyone involved. Bravo Brock. You might as well pull a chair up to the beach, crack open a cold one, and retire from life, because you will never top that con.
