Charlie Maxwell - I don't have an opinion at this time regarding what's gone on between Rio and MW.
I do have a comment and a question.

You wrote "The viability of Rio/Skybook has never been better as illustrated ... by the fact that we have been with Don Best Premium for 6 years, USATODAY.COM for 3 years, (USATODAY obviously would not collaborate with a sportsbook who doesn't pay)...".

It's my understanding that AcesGold was with Don Best right up to the time that they went under, so I don't think that being with Don Best signifies anything at all.

As far as USA TODAY - exactly what collaboration are you referring to?
I read USA Today a few times a week, and never noticed anything in there regarding Rio/Skybook.
Please clarify.

It's absolutely foolish to think Rio is in any trouble. Only Russ knows for sure if this is being done because they won't advertise with him or not but the fact is he is wrong. Spiro, Skippy, Micky and everyone else who would know does book to books and anything else with Rio without a second thought. You want to know if a book is good or not ask another book. Anyway I appreciate the note from the Rio boys and also thought that was a nice gesture from the BHB guys. Good thread men, thanks for the updates.

Dif - send me an email with your information, if you get stiffed I'll pay it out of my own pocket. Now get some sleep, it's a little after 430AM here.

Nicely done BHB...

I applaud your efforts of letting every sports book know what has transpired between MW and RIO so bookmakers can make their own informed decision before deciding to advertise over there in the future...

As I have mentioned all along, RIO has NO ONE complaining of a slow pay, much less a NO PAY...

P.S.

Let me know when you get your refund back...

I predict the OVER/UNDER to be one month....

BHB, we will be more than happy to remove you from MajorWager. We will not be refunding your money as we are complying with our contract. We will not be held ransom by a book when we believe that another book is in trouble. I know that you worked at RIO and this is not a nice situation for you.

Facts are this

RIO owes a large amount of money
RIO has no definate ownership at this time
RIO is giving away the store
RIO has pulled out all the big guns

( I have heard from 5 people now that Dave is calling in favours for people to post discrediting info about the myself)

If you wish to argue these points, feel free.

This is a watchdog site for players BHB. Not a site controlled by books.

We will be sorry to see you leave if that is your wish. Just give me the word.

Russ

SBR, thank you for that post, my feelings exactly.

Why wouldn't the major want to refund our money. Is that what happens to other books that stop advertising before the year is through. The major made allegations about Rio that we feel are false, so if we want to stop advertising at MW, we shouldn't get screwed out of a full years advertising price.

I have to say this, and Im sorry if I come across unprofessional.

Russ, you are a joke. What site in their right mind would openly say that they will take an advertiser down and not refund the remaining $$$. If it was a question of the first 2 months of the season being "more valuable" than the other 10 MONTHS, then fine. I will pay 50% more for those months. But under no circumstance do you have the right to keep the remaining funds.

Furthermore, this just goes to show what kind of businessman you are. I feel even stronger about my decision now. Im sure I will see some breakthrough stories about BHB when this is all said and done. Adding to your already diminished credebility.

Heres the deal. I paid you 15k for BHB for the year. 15k / 12 = 1250. 1250 x 2.5 = 3125. 3125 x 1.50%(for your busy months) = 4688. 15k - 4688 = 10312.

Tell you what, refund me 10k, and keep the other 312 to make up for the upcoming loss of advertisers on your site. And just so you know, your so called "busy months" yeilded BHB a whole 8 accounts. We opened that much from the Rx this Monday.

Your site is nothing more than a place to try and extort books. You have few if any real players there. The only way you can make press for your site is by talking trash about good sites.

and Yes. I did work for Rio for many years. Yes. I am close to them personally. Yes. Hearing your lies bothers me.

However, any one will tell you I am the last person to hold my tongue. The posters here can tell you that. In the past I have gone head on with the guys at Rio when we didnt see eye to eye. So if there were something going on with Rio I would say it. I, unlike you have no agenda here.

I am simply pulling my advertising from your site for a combination of things. Your lack of traffic, your lack of ethics, and your lack of profesionalism. You talk about your site like its the save all of the industry and BHB is lucky to be there. But in reality your site is nothing more than a sham. I recomend any books who pay to advertise there to pull out. And if you were considering to advertise there, I will show you our numbers for the last 2.5 months.

I strongly urge you to refund our 10k. It is after all the right thing to do. (and there was no contract that I remember)

Regards

Scott:

BillDozer has a very valid question.

Did you sign a contract? If you did, for how long? If you decide to leave Majorwager before the time estipulated in the contract is due, then you're incurring into a breach of contract, which would legally allow Major to charge you for the period of time you initially agreed upon.

Just a friendly advise.

If you ask me, that was a bad business decision. Site wars come and go, but you're now in one unfavourable position. If you stay, you will have to apologize for having jumped the gun. If you leave, you are held responsible for the contract, if there's any

Is there a contract? And what does it say?

To be honest I dont remember. We made so many deals this year I dont have a clue.

Either way, we dont want to be on the site. Whether we get our money back or not.

If there was a contract, then legally yes he can keep our money. But that doesnt mean he should. We all know what the right thing to do here is.

Just remember this, if the ssituation was reversed, and he wanted to take us down because he didnt like out site or whatever, then we wouldnt have a chance in hell of getting our money back. They have the upper hand either way.

Russ, I do not want to do business with you. I didnt like you when we spoke and I like you even less now. Imagine what a fan I will be if you dont return BHB's funds.

Remember, when I said you used to beg for Rio to advertise with you. When you wanted like $500 a month for your site. I still stand by that story. I did the advertising for Rio, and you would call every week.

How soon we forget where we came from.

The situation is very simple. BHB wants nothing to do with MW.

Contract or not. Whether we get our money back or not.

Russ, you know what you should do.

What else is there to say.

I am not a big fan of Russ either but what kind of response is that? You can't remember if you signed a contract or not but you come in here bitching about a refund?

It clearly shows you are not a professionally run company or you would have every transaction you did in a file or somewhere so you could always go back and verify.

This just shows me what a micky mouse operation you guys are.

Ouch

This business would be most beneficial to be handled the way it started... Probably on the phone.

Truthteller, Im sorry if you feel that way. The truth is, BHB has contracts with some places and with others we dont. Simple as that.

If we do have a contract with them, I have no idea whether or not it says in the contract that if we cancel early we get a refund or not.

Again, its not about the money. AT ALL. Logically speaking Russ should refund the un used $$$. Regardless or what the contract might say.

But the Bottom line is BHB doesnt care either way. We want nothing to do with MW. If they decide to keep our money then let em have it. Take us down anyway.

If they decide to give us the 10k back then great.

This is not a legal debate. I dont care either way. Of course I would prefer to get BHB's 10k back. But if he wont then screw it.

All I want is to have nothing more to do with Russ. My relationship with him was quite rocky before, and this Rio thing is just the last straw.

Russ, whether you keep the funds or not. Take us down. To all the posters, I appreciate your insite on the contract and stuff, but its a moot point. The decision is up to Russ. He knows what we discussed on the phone.

These contracts are not like contracts in the states. A book doesnt have a leg to stand on no matter what the contact says.
