Only the NHL would program a game 7 starting within a 1/2 hour of a second round game

Montreal-Toronto starts at 7pm, NY Islanders-Boston starts at 7:30pm. Can you imagine the NFL doing anything as dumb as this. They always say what a great commissioner Gary Bettman is yet he has no control when games are aired. There are only two NHL games today. It isn't that difficult to stagger the start times.

Other than placing a team in Vegas, has the sport really grown at all over the past 4-5 years? Now the owners are satisfied again with the $$ from the new Seattle franchise and they all seem happy with the status quo. No marketing creativity, no outreach via social media, no upgraded branding of teams or players and playing a game seven opposite another game. That's what happens when people in decision making spots have no vision and, worse yet, are satisfied with the way things are rather than what they could be especially in light of the droves of people giving up on the MLB.

To be fair, the NFL doesn't require you to WIN 16 post season games to be champs. The comparison is flawed.

They're doing it again tonight, though no game 7's involved.

The NBA has done the same during the postseason, but i'm not aware of any G7's involved.

As for the NFL i wish they wouldn't have so many games going simultaneously on Sundays in the regular season. Instead space them out over the course of the week.

How much of the games are actually missed?

If games are starting 30 min apart from each other, lets factor in commercial breaks and intermissions, and you could probably watch at least 40 or 45 minutes of each game.

Plus the game 7 the other nite was shown on CNBC here in the States

No issues here, a ton of playoff hockey is great to me. I know people who dont even watch the sport but find themselves glued to the tv watching playoff hockey. Something to watch every night
