Below is parts of the bill I have obtained from Washington's state legislature webpage. A similar bill is now being brought to attention in Illinois and Nevada, of all places. It is thought that each state where gambling is legal will allow their in-state casinos to decide whether or not to place a similar bill on the state agenda.

Basically, in a nutshell, anyone who knowingly gambles on the internet or any form of telecommunications service would be charged with a Class C felony. So PartyPoker is now the same penalty as Child Pornography.

Below is the parts of the bill. Looking for replies from anyone.

AN ACT Relating to reaffirming and clarifying the prohibition
against internet and certain other interactive electronic or mechanical
devices to engage in gambling; amending RCW 9.46.240 and 67.70.040; and creating a new section.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION.

Sec. 1. It is the policy of this state to prohibit
all forms and means of gambling, except where carefully and
specifically authorized and regulated. With the advent of the internet
and other technologies and means of communication that were not
contemplated when either the gambling act was enacted in 1973, or the
lottery commission was created in 1982, it is appropriate for this
legislature to reaffirm the policy prohibiting gambling that exploits
such new technologies.

However, this section shall not apply to such information transmitted or received or equipment installed or maintained relating to activities authorized by this chapter or to any act or acts in furtherance thereof when conducted in compliance with the provisions of this chapter and in accordance with the rules ((and regulations)) adopted ((pursuant thereto)) under this chapter.

Well now we need the big gaming money to step up and shut this down. Do you have the feeling that this is prohibition all over again? The internet is too big and there isn't the people to really regulate this.

Any other states have bills on the floor yet?

Like I said in first post, I believe Illinois and Nevada have this version of the ammended bill on the floor now. Basically, states are kind of leaving it up to their in-state casinos to decide whether or not to try to pass this bill, is what I'm understanding anyways.

This is probally a stupid question but then again this whole legislature act is really stupid. Where it say knowingly receives gambling info by internet, that when I enter this web site I could be breaking this law. People do come in this site for gambling info. ASSANINE stuff this is.
