Oldman's Picks For The Kentucky Derby

The pace of this race should be honest, but there is no rabbit, so I expect to see 23+ and 47+ for the first half with three quarters in 1:12 and change and the mile in 1:38+. Don't believe any horse can wire this field and the winner and those that hit the board will be a combination of the stalkers and closers. My plays:

Appears a number of us like Circular Quay. Believe Pletcher knows he has a good one here and didn't need another race after the Louisiana Derby romp. Bringing him up to this race on works since March. Fresh and ready!

We have some very fair prices and if we hit, it will be a nice payout. That being said, the Derby is always tough. In 35 years of betting the Derby, I have won on 7 times but with some nice prices. That's horse racing!
