Call this one based on local knowledge. Norv Turner and the Raider players have stated their desire to treat these preseason games with the intention to win after last year's dismal preseason approach. Turner has stated that he will play his starters longer then the norm and the QB rotation difference is significant with Gannon, Collins, and Tuiasosopo with possible mop up with Martin. This versus Dorsey, Doman and Pickett. Injury disparity as well as Raiders are healthier and the Niners have been hit hard with significant injuries as well as hold-outs. Raiders coming off last year's injuries as well as new additions Sapp, Washington, Hamilton, Rudd, Buchanan, Hambrick and Zereoue all looking forward to playing in their new uniform. Meanwhile, Niners will be without starters Peterson, Adams and Plummer as well as No.1 draft pick Woods. New Raider defensive scheme set for more blitz attacks. Some line value has been lost but play still looks solid. Hence,

1* Raiders -3

Plays are rated 1*-5*.

Good Luck All.

I liked this game and bet it earlier in the week at Oak -1 based primarily on QB rotations. With your excellent info on Oakland's motivation, I feel even stronger about the play and see why it went to -3. I pretty much flatbet (1 unit +/-20%), so I may add a little more at -3.

I always look forward to your write-ups. I don't always agree, but you make strong arguments when you have an opinion on a game.

Good luck.

Mr. Leisure:

Nice to hear from you and glad to see we're on the same side tonight. As always, my plan is to post selectively. As to my health, it's far from what I had hoped, but it won't stop me from contributing to the forums as my strength allows. Thanks for your well wishes.

olddog:

Appreciate your comments and glad to hear that you enjoy my write-ups when presented whether you agree or not. Success in this business is directly related to information, so I try to share meaningful insights when appropriate. I liked the Raiders as well throughout the week and quite frankly was remiss in pulling the trigger as late as yesterday. Don't like losing line value, but still believe this to be a solid play even at the current number.

JMan:

Always my pleasure to share. Hopefully, the outcome tonight will be one of success.

Best of luck to everyone this football season.

Hope all is well with you. Interesting game tonight as the Raiders were much the best team, but the referees called an incredible number of pass interference penalties on the Silver & Black to the tune of over 20+ penalties and 200+ yards. If this new rule is enforced in the regular season the way it was tonight, the games are going to be very long and high scoring. For the Niners, Cody Pickett looked good, but Dorsey and Doman looked weak. Looks like a long season for the Niners. Best of luck to you this year.

Oldman Ted,

Wanted to take these few minutes that I have this morning to say that it's good to see you back this past week as I enjoy reading your posts.

I, too, had Oakland, minus the three, however, I didn't have a chance to see the game. When I read your post, and learned that the refs went crazy on pass interference calls, it reminded me of Marty Schottenheimer having his pass defenders wearing boxing gloves during his team's practices this year.

Marty had his players do that, so that they'll be ready for the strict enforcement of "passing interferences" this season...ha, "Old School Marty."
