These are sponsored links, that is why they could pull them down that fast. Just have to go to adword panel at google and not do sponsored links for those terms.

I don't think it is good business practice to buy ads on search results for other competing businesses, but it is not like they claimed they were either of these books?

This could be viewed as a pattern, but I wasn't big on them before so I don't see it much different than what they had already done.

That is very interesting. I buy television media for a living and the lag time to pull spots is two weeks (and this is not even network!). To be able to pull advertising YOURSELF, in an instant, is intriguing. The buying/selling of traditional media (broadcast, print, radio and outdoor) has many safeguards and checks and balances in place which discourage duplicitous advertising.

Listen, guys, this isn't fair to beat up on 911 like that - this is called creative marketing, remember? I'm sure this is all a misunderstanding, they probably just overlooked correcting this over-enthusiastic marketing effort by a junior staffer when they changed their 50% banner to 20%. I tell you, I'm now seriously thinking of pulling my pin (pinnacle) money and posting up with them, they are creative indeed

Google Ad Words rep informs me that all gambling-related ads go through a screening process ... for what its worth.

Lou,

That's EXACTLY what I have decided to do...

They are coming off the site tonight and we are refunding them their money...

This violates everything we stand for and isn't fair to all the sports books who have spent years trying to gain a good reputation...

Our ads were purchased through Google.

We bought an ad package with Google, which included words like Sportsbook, online sportsbook, and anything to do with sportsbooks.. even sportsbook names.

We did not however realize that the way it was going to be posted was by pulling the search term and then listing the books name and our name as well.

We were notifed earlier this week by Pinnacale that this was occuring and acted immediately. We have been taking down all the sportbook named words as we believe that it should have read sportsbook911.com.

today we were contacted by Betallworld and immediately corrected the situation. We have been working on this all day.

This was a package offered by google in which we purchased and will fix shortly.

You should not see our ads on other terms presently.

We hopefully have taken care of this matter.

Glad to see you do the right thing here.

After this clambake, I doubt 911 would get any business out of the Rx crowd anyways.

Are you mental or do you just play one on a posting forum? Its called advertising, google adwords allows you to update your account realtime, just like this site allows you to make a fool of yourself in real time.

I also don't see what is so larcenous about this, they are paying per click. It happens all the time.

doc,- Google Adwords program is likely the fastest growing form of advertising on the Internet. Google's answer to Overture (just bought by Yahoo) paid listings. Banner ads still suck, so I am guessing these paid listings will continue to grow even more. Cool on ad buying business. Sounds fun.

Also they might have just looked for the most used terms that go with sportbooks and these books were in computer generated lists. Some people put thousands of terms in at once and scale them back over time.

Either way I wouldn't hold this one thing against them. But it does seem to be a pattern.

**On that other thing doc, still getting the run-around, but I am keeping at it. Thanks.
