Is there a difference in these. I see a bag of candy (mints) which says "Fat Free". What is the significance of that as opposed to something which says "No calorie".
Is the term fat free meaningless for someone trying to go on a diet?

i believe something fat free can contain a ton of sugar which can be stored as fat. I am not positive about this, maybe someone else can give a better explanation.

It's different, fat comes from animals. Beer has no fat.

"Fat Free" can be loaded with carbs and calories. "No calorie" means it doesn't contain calories. Coffee is the only thing I can think of that doesn't have calories. Diet sodas have 1 calorie per serving.

There is no rthymn or reason for which topics remain in the main board and which ones are sent to the RR. There are several just in the last few days dealing with weight and sleep and you name it in the main room.
I think Wil is pushing for head mod....But I could care less....

wilheim is a bit zealous at times. Just his nature. Some of the things that are left in the main forum astound me and some of the things that are moved here astound me. However, he means well. I do think he thought that maybe your post was a 'sham' post or you were being just outright silly on purpose whether you meant it that way or not. But, I won't speak for wilheim. I'm just guessing that from his "Get Serious" line.

By the way, have any of you shaken the fizz out of a diet pop before you drank it? Not all the fizz, mind you, just some of the fizz... LOL.... that was one I had moved by wilheim several weeks ago. The fizz thread didn't last a minute up there but the 'what are you having for dinner?' is a perrenial favorite. I'm just not a good 'topic' picker I guess. My Dad was a topic picker and my grandfather before him was a topic picker but then the machines pretty much ended the need for manual topic pickers. Anywhoooo..... tulsa

By the way, no calories means just that, but fat free usually means they've taken out the fat, of course, but to make the product at all tasty they have filled it with large amounts of calories in the form of carbohydrates. You do know that if something is calorie free then it is fat free too. But not the other way around.

Thanks Tulsa... Someone said that only coffee has 0 calories. But Walmart sells a very refreshing brand of drinks called "Clear American" They are advertised a s Calorie Free and Sodium Free and taste very good.
I didn't know that fat free it self was just a selling gimmick...until it was explained here.

Water is just about the ONLY thing that truly has 0 calories.

Your best bet is to check the caloric value of everything since FAT FREE is very misleading. It can have no fat and have tons of sugar or carbs which is even worse. While we need fat for energy sugar is just stored.
