Kind of disturbing to see the rush to judgement on this one. A careful look at the video shows the Officer's weight was not fully on the person's neck, it was on his left shoulderblade. Guy was a weightlifer, a bouncer, he was resisting, high on fentanyl and opoids, a danger to the police and the citizens in his vicinity. He had also stolen goods from the store across the street. Crowd forms and prevents the cops from doing their job which is to protect the community from someone like this. What if the person had gone into a drug induced rage, grabbed a cops gun and started blasting away? What would the media reports be then? "police don't control dangerous felon and innocent bystanders injured"

On the other hand the cops seemingly refused EMT assistance and were somewhat slow to get him medical aid

On balance, seems like a perfectly legal police action with perhaps a touch of negligence tossed in

Cell phone cameras are a menace, they don't tell the whole story and careful editing can twist the narrative any way you choose

Plus televising a trial like this is very biased towards the defense. If your a witness and aren't throwing tears around how are your friends and neighbors going to treat you when the trial is over, if the defendant gets off?

You talk about racist my God you should hear them it's blatant

I'm not taking about all Black Americans of course just this nonsense on tv

He might fade the murder charges but I think he'll get the 3rd degree manslaughter at the very least

Would be decently surprised if he got off completely but guess we'll see what the case brings

Either way, guy is an idiot though. I pretty much always side w/ cops vs these fools but that situation could've been handled way better.

I would vote to aquit. The purpose of the police for is to serve the public trust, protect the innocent and uphold the law. In this case it was a volatile situation, a robbery suspect under the influence of methamphetamine, fentanyl and god know's what else could do anything and hurt innocent bystanders

The Boulder shooting shows us that these guys are always on a hair trigger and can explode at any moment. What would YOU have done? I would have protected myself, the community and innocent bystanders which is what the cops are paid to do

He is indeed an idiot for not letting up

But it's beyond out of control these days when it comes to you being convicted even if innocent on anything because one group of ppl if the opposite color call/see it that way

He will get something because of the bad optics
And fear of riots
The question is should he?
Definitely not any form of murder/manslaughter IMO
It looked really bad before the whole story
None the less the cop does seem a bit off maybe

Lets just say you have to be crazy to be a cop if you are white
Seems like a no win situation

It IS no win. These cops, mostly working stiffs who want to do the right thing, get put into an impossible situation. Restrain an unpredictable offender who's pumped himself full of drugs and you're charged with murder. Don't restrain him and he shoots up a grocery store and kills ten people and you're at fault too.

Chauvin was married to a Laotian refugee, yet the media wants to portray him as some kind of latter day Mark Fuhrman sans bloody glove. Crazy, I wouldn't do that job for any amount of money, yet WE depend on these guys to keep us safe.

And this is how we pay them back....face)(*^%

I remember when that White Hispanic man in Florida was found innocent of charges of murdering a man who our President claimed could have been his son. The country was outraged, because of the hatred created and nutured by our politicians and our media

Same thing going on here, there will be riots and looting without consequences

In the Zimmerman case, the prosecution aimed too high. Think they went for murder 1 when all they had was a manslaughter case

Not sure what this prosecution is pursuing, hope they're not making the same mistake

Since kneeling on the neck was used before without punishment, I can see him walking

Chauvin has dealt with numerous roaches like "Mr" Floyd.

Ya, "Mr.".

Wonder how that pregnant gal felt when he pointed a gun at her unborn child while invading her house.

Surprised he made it that late in life. A simple roach.

Next.

I think there's enough there for 3rd degree murder (e.g. Murder is charged when a person is killed and the defendant has an indifference to the sanctity of human life.)
Involuntary manslaughter is almost certain just by watching the video.

If innocent, those riots will NOT be fun

I cant see him be guilty of murder in the 1st.

Not when he died of a drug overdose because a bag he swallowed burst in his stomach

We agree again, WTF

I must be rubbing off on you

I would bet just about anything he is found guilty of the highest murder charge - I watched the full video the first day of trial - it's pretty painful to watch - I don't see how any person could not find him guilty of murder - regardless, I would bet my life he is not found innocent of anything - worst case scenario for the state would be a hung jury and a retrial - this cop is one depraved c$nt - read about him - he's done this to numerous other people - he's not racist at all - he doesn't care who you are - white, black or hispanic - he will step on your neck or stomp ur head - scary thing is if he is found guilty of 2nd degree murder - the sentencing guidelines call for about 10 years for first time offenders

It doesn't matter what they prove on Floyd, his supporters will still act a fool if the officer is acquitted.

It's gonna get to the point everyone else is going to have to band together and shut down these riots ourselves

I believe 2 independent autopsy's say otherwise friend.

Both confirmed, although 11 nanograms of fentanyl were found in his system, cause of death was "asphyxiation from sustained pressure". Dr. Andrew Baker, Hennapin County Medical Examiner, concluded Floyd's death was a homicide.
