Has it ever occured to you that they are profitable at the expense of Americans? That they are profitable from GOUGING consumers and ruining the environment? I say Tax the hell out of em.. as far as that goes their VP of investor Relations doesnt seem to mind.. so why should you? They need to pay their fair share. They have the RECORD for PROFIT, so why shouldnt they be paying RECORD taxes as well? When you are the most profitable business in the history of mankind of course you are gonna pay the most taxes in the history of mankind as well..

"The fundamentals of our business remain strong," Henry Hubble, Exxon's vice president of investor relations, said on a conference call. "We continue to capture the benefit of strong industry conditions."

in the 2 minutes it took me to write this post wow they just made - $178,266 PROFIT.

They make 9 cents profit on every dollar. You can tax them all you want and they will still make 9 cents profit but you will pay more at the pump.

if they are making 9 cents profit on every dollar then they are paying 3 maybe 4 cents tax on every dollar.. that sounds about right to me.. and if they want me to pay more at the pump then make them pay more to Uncle Sam : )

Why do you care so much more for Big Oil than you do for American Families?

thats not right actually oil companies pay more in taxes then their profits

they also employ a lot of people

its basically communist to point fingers at oil companies

you want to point at an oil company?

try Citgo/Petro Express

Let's do the math.. They are averaging 11 billion dollars a quarter that equals =TIMES 4 = 44 BILLION PROFIT a year.. Dave007 who supports the oil companies claims that they pay 27 BILLION in taxes per year..

So if they were as you say paying MORE IN taxes than Profit they would be paying over 44 BILLION a year Correct me if Im wrong...
So which is it? 27 Billion or more than 44 Billion??? so afterTAXES, Paying Employees, ETC they have 44 BILLION PROFIT (thats why they call it profit)

that means that they made 71 BILLION PROFIT of which Uncle Sam took 27 Billion.. Leaving them 44 BILLION.. I think thats enough.

im not jealous at all.. good for them.. Hope they make huge profits, but it doesnt change the fact that they need to pay their fair share.. When is enough money enough money, when you are making these profits at the expense of the American people? I look at taxes for Big Oil as a way to give back to society because they take so much... : )

I never said you were jealous that was directed at punter. As to giving back, we are never going to agree. I believe in a capitalist society and you believe in a socialist society. Oil and water don’t mix.

I assume you mean Bush and company in bed with big oil? Their making a killing and you would too if you were in their shoes. The difference between you and me is you’re jealous of their good fortune and I am not.

I was thinking of the depreciation tax credits on oil reserves while expensing exploration.

Why should an individual not be able to depreciate his earnings over his employable years?

Preferential tax treatment I think.

I must plead ignorance on this subject as I have no clue.
