now that the pissing contest has subsided, here is why i said that the speech was garbage. first of all, obama (and his writers) have a lack of history knowledge even as it pertains to the presidential office. obama said "44 americans have now taken the presidential oath" um, sir, mr obama, that number is actually 43. also his indirect jabs at W with him sitting only steps away shows a further lack of respect for the office. furthermore, is hope really enough to pull this country out of the numerous crises that we face? does he really expect people to believe that hope is the answer? when he shows this level of disrespect on so many levels, i find it hard to respect him
Obama IS the 44th president. He didn't take the oath AFTER his speech. How is that hard for you to comprehend? And you're telling me I don't have common sense?
As for Obama's speech and his jabs. It wasn't "indirect". He verbally clobbered Bush and Cheney to their faces. Would you have felt better had Bush not been around? To naysayers it might be seen as disrespectful, sure. To the rest of the country, (and perhaps the world) it was message they all wanted to hear. Hard to argue with considering the shitty state he left the country in under his watch.

Didnt matter much to me at all who would have got elected. I would have a field day regardless. At least knowing i live in a country dominated by sheep and idiots, i cant take comfort knowing my constant desire of negativity and cynicism will not be in short supply... or something like that.
