Russia is the perfect place for you!! Very primitive, uneducated, thick headed, and people think riding on a horse with your shirt off makes you a "tough" leader. Even though you're living in poverty and in a shit hole. Exactly your kind of place, lol.
I’m guessing Russia isn’t a lot different than Alaska.

Russia has oil. Alaska has oil.

Russia has Siberia. Alaska has the Yukon.

Russians speak Russian. Alaskans speak Yupik.

Russia has Chernobyl. Alaska has Anchorage.

Russia had Nikolai Dmitriyevich Kondratiev. Alaska has you.

Hell, you’re practically neighbors.

Far more likely they just want to protect their own share of the global oil market.
maybe. They did manage year ago to convince them to trade oil in USD world wide so anything is possible.

hang on a sec Joe. You know you and I generally agree politically but don't you think its possible that this is indirectly orchestrated by the US to hurt Russia?

No, that's just silly.

This from Oct 2014:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crashing oil prices could crush Vladimir Putin

http://money.cnn.com/2014/10/15/investing/oil-price-fall-russia-hurt/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Surprise, this is exactly what happened - crashing oil prices crushed Putin.

"Obama beat Putin!!!!!!! He's never wrong on anything!!!!!!!"

You and I both know libtards are allergic to facts, logic and reason.

"That's a tough pill for Russia to swallow since the country relies heavily on oil revenues to bankroll its budget -- over half of the government's revenues come from oil and gas."

"Obama beat Putin -- the epitome of perfection!! Eat it conservatives!!"

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

I couldn't make this shit up if I tried!

a combination of factors set the stage for Putin's dramatic fall, with oil price being the major player.

did the sanctions play a role? of course they did, HE HIMSELF admitted such during his speech to the nation, stating 'it was 25-30% a result of '. Is the timing of the dramatic fall in oil JUST a coincidence? :) Or did the Saudis and USA take a gamble, by doing such share in the collateral damage?

Putin's speech the other day had moments of madness. The guy can be scary nuts;

“I sometimes wonder whether our bear shouldn’t sit down, relax, stop chasing pigs in the taiga and go on a honey and berry diet. Maybe he would be left alone. No, he would not, because they will always try to chain him. Once they succeed in chaining him, they’ll rip out his fangs and claws.”

WTF.....:)

“Taking Texas from Mexico is fair, but whatever we are doing is not fair?”

huh?

“It’s not a matter of Crimea. We are defending our independence, our sovereignty and our right to exist. We should all understand this,”

huh?

remember Merkel's comments earlier in the year?

"Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany told Mr. Obama by telephone on Sunday that after speaking with Mr. Putin she was not sure he was in touch with reality, people briefed on the call said. "In another world," she said."

lol......she may have been onto something

Obama could possibly be the best foreign policy President we've ever had. He owns everyone. Especially after the previous dude.

OMG! After Obama leaves office you'll probably be among the first to buy tickets to the 'Barack Obama Leadership Seminars'.That
idiotic bombastic flourish eliminates you as a conveyer of information.

dont be ridiculous. Maybe the worst actually.

Maybe is generous, BO reliance on the likes of Susan Rice answers the question. BO intervention in Egypt that is his "Mubarak Must Go"
nonsense bought the Muslim Brotherhood to power was a completely dimwitted stance that ended a 30 year alliance, thankfully for the US the Brotherhood was overthrown & Mubarak who was imprisoned by the Brotherhood is now free.

His intervention into Libya was even worse. Libya was run by a secular Muslim who ran the country with a firm hand, he handled the
radicals. Finally when the Arab Spring came to Libya & Khaddafi was about ready to crush the 'poor innocent rebels' who were actually
the Muslim Fundamentalists making there last stand in Bengazi; again Obama screwed up the works prompted by Susan Rice
to use American power on behalf of the slime who Khaddafi was about to crush. The al-Quida types & offshutes were saved & Khaddafi's
government finished. Now instead of Khaddafi Libya has 100 little Khaddafi wannabees vying for control of a lawless country where our
embassy was overrun & embassy leaders slaughtered.

Finally Syria, Obama finally decides to supply weapons to the so called 'Free Syrian Army' whose leaders are expatriots residing in the Ivory towers of London & Paris. Many of the weapons are already in the hands of ISIS & the 'Free Syrian Army' couldn't win a pitched battle with my small towns police department. Obama's hideous foreign policy is actually worse than his domestic policy & that's saying something.

Sanctions don't work that fast, idiot.

High oil prices provided the Russian bear a pipeline of cash. Their economy crashed the moment GLOBAL oil prices plummeted.

But since you left wing lunatics INSIST on bringing the Kenyan into this...suck on this, Obama cum guzzler:

OBAMA’S MOVE TO STRENGTHEN CUBA WILL ALSO HELP RUSSIA, IRAN, NORTH KOREA AND VENEZUELA

"by propping up Castro’s regime in Cuba, Obama can indirectly benefit all of America’s major adversaries, providing them with a more economically robust trading partner, a better source of illicit arms, and, most important, naval bases and intelligence outposts just miles from our shores. I think it is fair to say that for all past American presidents, even the Democrats, the prospect of aiding such bitter enemies of the United States would have rendered propping up Castro’s regime unthinkable. For Obama, the fact that he can strengthen North Korea, Iran, Venezuela and Russia along with Cuba may be a feature rather than a bug."

Loser!@#0:pointer::nohead::laughingb:missingte@)

That "fast?" They first started imposing them in the spring, and, like I said, the Ruble is down over 50% in the last 6 months. Just a coincidence, right? It's IMPOSSIBLE that you're really that stupid! Why don't you share with all of us your expertise about just how long it DOES take for sanctions to take effect, Jagoff?

Saudi Arabia didn't really do anything different. All they did was say they weren't going to cut supply, they didn't change policy on their production levels or anything. Just kept status quo

Hell yea I would go to one of his leadership seminars. He's been a leader his entire life. Two term Prez, most intelligent President we've ever had. Was handed a pile of shit from the Republicans and had to deal with the most ridiculous obstructionism this country has ever seen. Obstructionism that could be deemed more as treason than anything else. And on top of all that shit, he owned foreign policy, kept the country safe, and kept us afloat. Tough shit to do when you have an entire Congress who's entire goal was to destroy the country in order to blame you.

I would go to that seminar without any questions asked. What you guys experienced the past 6 years is a real leader. Learn from it instead of continuing being degenerates set to destroy this great nation.

Exactly what did Obama do to create Russia’s current situation that he deserves credit for?

And be specific.

He just squeezed them with sanctions, he didn't create the situation but the sanctions are not going to help. It's more about what he didn't do, the conservatives many on this site wanted Obama to get tough and possibly involve military, instead he just waited for it to play out. Maybe he had some insight to the future but he definitely played the cards right.
People are actually going to bring up approval ratings between Obama and Putin? That's grasping at some straws. It's a shame how many people on this board like Putin. Sad

Totally agree.

I can understand disagreeing with some, or even most of what this administration does, or has done, but actually "rooting" for Putin over Obama is over the top. Stuff like that is why I usually stay away from this forum, except for the occasional intoxicated, late night perusal searching for a few laughs.

It's not even that funny anymore either, without Vit being able to participate.

IMHO the sanctions had little if any to do with Russia’s economy. If sanctions worked, Cuba, North Korea and Iran would be bankrupt.

The fall in the price of oil did Putin in for the short term. Russia’s economy collapsed during the cold war and rebounded, it will rebound again.

Capitalism trumps Socialism at ever turn. That is why the U.S. has survived Obama. He couldn’t make it work but not for a lack of trying. That’s what makes our country great, we can elect a totally incompetent man to lead us and we still weather the storm.

And yes Putin is and will always be a better leader than Obama. It doesn't take much.

IMHO you're an idiot. Sanctions had little if any to do with Russia's economy? Then, YOU know better than Putin himself, who, as others pointed out, admited that it most certainly DID have something to do with it, and a very significant part of it.And, how EXACTLY "...is(Putin) and will always be a better leader than Obama." Because you get a woodie seeing him bareback on a horse? You were wrong in '08, wrong in '12, and wrong about who has been the most effective leader. This keeps up, Putin may be slingin' shit in a Siberian gulag by springtime-or worse.

Fracking drove down the price of oil. Fracking in Texas. Fracking in North Dakota, etc. That raised the supply of oil causing the price of oil to drop. The drop hurt the Russian economy. Obama had nothing to do with it.
