President Obama is set to take the stage Thursday at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.
Maybe the next installment should be called “Harold & Kumar Go to the White House.”
President Obama’s campaign team released a new ad Monday urging supporters to follow the Democratic National Convention live online — and features the stars from the stoner comedies as a teaser to tune in.
In the 53-second Web spot, Obama is seen making a mysterious phone call as dramatic music plays.
“This is Barack,” the President says. “Listen, I need to know if you’re on board. Okay, good. Cause I’m counting on you — everybody is. We have to get this right.”
Obama adds, “Just remember that I’m trusting you on this, and I’ll see you there.”
The scene cuts to actor Kal Penn, who’s seen watching TV on a sofa with “Harold & Kumar” co-star John Cho.
The duo reacts nonchalantly to Obama’s call.
“Sweet,” Cho says.

John Cho (l) and Kal Penn (r) get the call from President Obama in his latest campaign ad.
Unlike their movie counterparts, the pair was filmed snacking on junk food — and not smoking marijuana.
The tie-in is that Penn will host the convention’s online livestream coverage from Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday night, when Obama is set to take the stage.
He has also served in the Obama administration’s Office of Public Engagement and was seen Monday shooting a campaign video with First Lady Michelle Obama.
