When the NYT was struggling and maybe even going under, about 10 years ago, he financed them with a $350,000,000 "investment" (saved their ass).

He has a BIG say in what they publish, and their overall ideology, it ramped further left when he became the daddy.

Tycoon Carlos Slim Helu, one of the richest men in the world (top 5 or so), Lebanese descent but family fled and he was born in Mexico, dominates several Mexican businesses especially telecommunications. He hates Trump.
