NY Giants...How do you see their season?

Kurt Warner leading the way this year with young Eli Manning the heir apparent....this team is a huge mystery , possibly no QB if Warner isn't right still!

IMO, they could be anywhere from a 8-8 (on the highly optomistic side) team to a horrible team...

wow, this team is in deep trouble...very difficult out of conference road games...and they were horrid at home last year...

Looks more like 4-12 to me,lol

I still can't get the images out of my mind of Warner completing pass after pass for St Louis in his hayday and marching his team down the field for a score on almost every possession. The opposing teams couldn't stop him. He is not that old for his skills to have diminished that much. Maybe his hand is injured, but he denies it. In my opinion he was the best QB of all time at his peak and I have seen Unitas, Montana, Namath, etc.

If Warner can recapture his old skills you are looking at 11-12 wins if his offensive line can give him some protection.

Wow , spoken like real Giants homer,lol...I don't see Warner doing anything for them..... I hope he does play well but unless a miracle happens Kurt Warner has seen his better days...He throws the ball as if he's tossing a grenade, something happened to him that was unfixable... His ball is wobbly, arrives late and with no velocity or crispness...He was in the ideal passing situation in St louis and he still had major trouble...I will be shocked if they go 8-8..

jm: You are probably right about his physical condition, even though as a Giant "homer" I wish it wasn't so and also for Kurt Warner as he is one of the genuinely nice guys in the NFL.

the chance of the Giants winning more than 9 games with Warner this season: 0% I know you've heard it a thousand times before, but he's going to be terrible behind that weak offensive line.

That Giants offensive line is not that bad. Kerry Collins sucked and any time there was a little bit of pressure he fumbled and ran and became ...kerry collins.

The Giants have good skill players Tiki the fumbler, Toomer,Hilliard,Shockey. If they get Decent QB play they can go 8-8 maybe 9-7.

Last year they quit on that idiot Fassell after he showed no confidence in them and personally cost them 2 games (opening night and that Eagles game)

They will have a decent season.

ELI LEAPFROGGING KURT?



A league source tells us that there's a growing feeling in Giants camp that rookie Eli Manning eventually will bypass veteran newcomer Kurt Warner for the opening-day starting job at quarterback.



Per the source, the combination of Eli's strong performance to date and Warner's propensity to put too much air under the ball is the source of the prevailing sense that the coaching staff will, barring a dramatic change in their performance during the preseason, go with the rookie over the two-time NFL MVP.



If Manning jumps past Warner -- and if Warner looks as shaky in the preseason as he did a year ago in St. Louis -- the question will be whether the Giants will cut him loose. Warner signed a two-year deal with a $1.5 million bonus and a $2 million salary in June. Though the team would be forced to absorb the full amount of Warner's bonus under its 2004 cap, avoiding the $2 million salary would result in a net gain of $1.75 million under the cap -- which is more than enough cap dollars for acquiring another quarterback to fill out the depth chart.



If Warner goes, Jesse Palmer likely would end up as the primary backup to Manning. Earlier this week, Giants coach Tom Coughlin threw some props Palmer's way. "He's a tough competitive guy," Coughlin said. "He knows what he is up against, but he never changes his resolve or how he approaches the game or practice."



So if Warner isn't getting it done well enough to put Manning on the bench and if Palmer is getting it done well enough to justify making him the top backup, Kurt's stay in New York could be a short one.

For the second day in a row, the Giants ended practice with a two-minute drill, and for the second time, Eli Manning responded with big throws.

Manning took command of the first team offense at his own 25-yard line with 1:24 remaining. On fourth-and-three from the defense’s 14-yard line and just 12 seconds remaining, Manning hit Ike Hilliard for an eight-yard gain. On the final play of the drive, Manning again found Hilliard, this time in the end zone for a touchdown.

Warner took his turn with the second team, which was not as successful as Ron Dayne was stopped short on a draw play on fourth-and-two.

In yesterday’s two-minute drill, Manning, working with the second team, led a drive that resulted in Bill Gramatica’s 43-yard field goal as time expired. Warner was intercepted by Brent Alexander on his second play.

5-11 is where I see this team,tough division,tough schedule,don't see alot of impact players here at all.They'll Hit bottom this year and will rebound some next year with decent draft. Manning was their top pick but that won't help get wins for the year.Playing it under 7 1/2 was the play
