This game features a stout Notre Dame defense versus a prolific USC offense. The Trojans are likely still flying high after a 48-45 victory over their archrivals from UCLA in hostile territory. On the flip side of things, the Irish looked unstoppable last week with a 44-0 thrashing of Boston College, easily covering the 20-point impost.
Don’t be surprised if the Trojans are still basking in last week’s big win and looking ahead to their Pac-12 championship game next week. The Irish will likely be giving the Trojans a heavy dose of ground-and-pound where they average over 191 yards per game against a middling USC run-stop unit.
If Notre Dame can maintain the pace and tempo of the game they will chew time off of the clock and keep the Trojan offense on the sidelines. I say the Irish will keep this close and hang within the margins.
